CREATE YOUR STYLE IN TUCSON A SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS EVENT

CREATE YOUR STYLE is all set to bring a whole range of sparkling ideas for personal

creation to the 2011 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, located in downtown Tucson at

525 North Bonita Avenue, Tucson AZ 85745. Creative beading enthusiasts will be able

to enjoy this special show from Tuesday, February 1 – Friday, February 4, 2011 from 10

a.m. to 5 p.m Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday.

Among the event’s sparkling highlights are the 40 different CREATE YOUR STYLE

workshops guided by industry experts. They will provide demonstrations and

instructions on a whole range of exciting new techniques using SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS

to bring pleasure to all those who create their own style through personally inspired

and designed jewelry and accessories.

NEW for 2011, sparkling Make & Takes! Join us on the terrace for one or more of our all

NEW Make &Take projects using many of your favorite SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, as well

as , many of our newest innovations. Make &Take projects are sponsored by some of

your favorite retailers and brands! There will be a $10.00 fee per project which will be

donated to the YWCA of Tucson.

This perfectly symmetrical bracelet is simply a series of toggles! Circular peyote stitch is

used to create the three dimensional forms connected to the SWAROVSKI Chessboard

Buttons, and then embellished with SWAROVSKI Xilion Beads. Experience with circular

peyote stitch with step-up recognition and working from a graph is helpful. Supply List:

BEADINGBy criss-crossing one ormore times through beads strung on a thread, various 2-D and 3-D beading pat-terns can be created. Also, Pearls or Pendants may be used to achieve marvellous design variations.

GLUINGGluing SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS adds a sparkle to a wide range of materials such as metal, wood, plastic, cork, etc. Flat Backs No Hotfix and SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS with a flat back side are especially appropriate for gluing.

WEAVINGAll SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS with one or more holes can be used for various weaving techniques and for various thread materials. There are no limits to the creativity and complexity of the weaving pattern.

CLAY MODELLINGThis technique is based on the usage of various clay mate-rials (e.g. polymer clay, metal clay) into which SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS such as Round Stones, Flat Backs No Hotfix and Fancy Stones can be integrated.

IRONINGSwarovski offers Flat Backs and Transfers with special hotfix glue on the backside of the crystals to apply them quickly and easily by using heat – for example an iron without steam holes.

WIRINGMany SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS can be wired. Beads, Crystal Pearls and Pendants are flexible enough to be used with various diameters and coatings.

CROCHETINGDifferent SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS such as Beads, Crystal Pearls and Pendants can be used for this tech-nique. They are strung on a thread, which can then be used in a lot of crocheting patterns with a crochet hook.

Katie Hacker hosts the public television show, Beads, Baubles & Jewels. Tamara Honaman has been making jewelry for over 15 years. As an expert jewelry designer, she creates and authors educational content for print, video and the Fire Mountain Gems and Beads website. She hosts and is part of the team answering jewelry-making questions in Ask the Experts on the Fire Mountain Gems and Beads website and she is also proud to be one of the CREATE YOUR STYLE with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS Ambassadors. Sue Jackson and Wendy Hubick are sisters who have been teaching nationally and internationally for seventeen years. Recently, Laura has combined her design efforts with JHB International, the leading button manufacturer for oddles of luscious kits combining buttons and SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. Feeding her love to write, she is the Fashion Editor for Bead Unique magazine: your 911 to the “Fashion 411” and you can find a SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS sponsored design in each issue as well. Many of Laura’s designs have been in several other trade publications throughout the industry. Teaching on many previous cruises with Lisa Pavelka as the Crystal Chix, Laura was a teacher on the first ever CREATE YOUR STYLE with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS Cruise in November 2009, and is teaching on the April 2011 CREATE YOUR STYLE with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS cruise as well.

Diane Whiting is an award-winning designer and CREATE YOUR STYLE with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS Ambassador who has been creating innovative jewelry and accessories featuring SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS for 10 years. Leslie Rogalski is an artist, teacher, and media personality with a passion for creating jewelry and more. She appears on the PBS TV series Beads, Baubles, and Jewels, and travels around the country empowering people to make their own jewelry. The former editor of Step by Step Beads and BeadingDaily.com, her designs and articles have been widely published. Her best-selling DoodleBeads DVDs teach the top seed-bead techniques in a unique drawing-before-your-eyes method she uses in class, too.
