First Grade Pen-Pal’s

Introduction: What is a Pen-Pal?

A Pen-Pal is someone you write to regularly, and they write to you.

Pen-Pal’s usually live somewhere different than you do.

You can share interesting things with each other, like were you live, and what you do for fun!

Task: What We Will Be Doing

We will become pen-pal’s with students that go to school in the state of Florida.

We will write letters to our new friends in Florida.

We will also receive letters from our new friends in Florida.

We will learn about their state, and they will learn about New York.

Step 2: Letter of Introduction

Today we will write our first letter to our Pen-Pal’s!

You will introduce yourself to your new friend using a worksheet from your teacher.

You will tell them your name, where you live, fun things you like to do, and send them a picture of you.(the following worksheet is located on the following slide)

We need to make sure our letters get to the right location.

Today we will address out letters using an envelope, stamp, and labels provided by your teacher.

We will discuss were our address goes and were our pin-pals address goes.

Step 4: Letter Two

Today we will write a second letter to our pen-pals

This letter will talk about traditions at our school.

Work with your teacher to write a letter about your school traditions.
