Muscular Strength

How much you can lift… How MANY things you can pick up at once…

According to Teen Health (1999), “By exercising to build strength, you can more easily lift heavy objects without injury or strain.”

How to improve muscular strength: Do resistance exercise. Lift

weights or do push ups to improve arm strength. Do squats or lunges to improve leg strength. Do crunches to improve stomach muscle strength.

Cardio-respiratory Endurance

How to improve your cardio endurance:

Cardio endurance is improved

with AEROBIC exercise.

How LONG You Can Exercise Without Feeling Breathless or Feeling Really Tired

Aerobic exercise: *body uses oxygen as a fuel*uses large muscles of the body (legs)*rhythmic and continuous (20 minutes or longer)*heart rate is in target zone*burns fat

Examples: dancing, jogging, skating, step-aerobics

This is the percentage of muscle, fat and water in your body. It is important to keep a healthy balance.
