Our Purpose• Theme: We Include and Excel Together• Learning Outcomes:

• To better understand how faculty-led study abroad programs are planned and implemented on the Berkeley campus.

• To be able to advise students regarding this program option and effectively support the creation and implementation of such programs in your own department.

We think study abroad is important and we rely on you to help Berkeley students understand all their options and that study abroad is really possible.

Berkeley Summer Abroad• 15 programs led by 18 faculty directors for Summer 2013• Typically 4-6 weeks in duration• Many different types of programs with a variety of goals

and concentrations (language & culture, intensive studio, field work placements, etc.)

• Two examples• Summer Peace Institute at the UN-mandated University for Peace:

Human Security and Peacebuilding (Ciudad Colon, Costa Rica)• Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe: A Berkeley Startup

Bootcamp (Tallinn, Estonia)
