Hendrick’s 10,000 learners are able to login from anywhere in the country, using any device they happen to have their hands on. Once online, they can find a learning community which has been built to meet both the individual learner’s needs and the needs of the company as a whole.

HENDRICK Hendrick Automotive Group is the largest privately held automotive dealership group in the United States. It operates 100 dealerships

across 14 states, and employs more than 10,000 people.

BACKGROUND As you can imagine, delivering training to so many employees

across the United States can be more than a little challenging.

They needed a way to effectively manage and deliver a blended learning initiative, and it was clear that an online solution would be

required to stand any chance of success.

Hendrick partnered with Growth Engineering to launch Hendrick Automotive Learning Online, or H.A.L.O. This is a fully-branded, online, learning management system packed full of interactive

training content.

Hendrick’s 10,000 learners are able to login from anywhere in the country, using any device they happen to have their hands on. Once online, they can find a learning community which has been built to

meet both the individual learner’s needs and theneeds of the company as a whole.

As if that doesn’t sound exciting enough, H.A.L.O. is fully equipped with social and gamification functionality to keep learners engaged, and to help them retain information

BLENDED IS SPLENDID!To help Hendrick deliver a splendid, blended, learning initiative, Growth Engineering developed custom classroom functionality for H.A.L.O. It allows users to

be allocated as ‘training coordinators’.

These users can register learners for classes, triggering notifications to be sent to those enrollees, and training coordinators can even arrange travel and hotel requirements through the platform.

Hendrick has assigned training coordinators to each of its classroom regions, which has

made coordinating classroom training much easier and much more efficient!

H.A.L.O’s social feed is extremely active organically, but here’s how Hendrick encourages ongoing engagement:

Hendrick could have limited H.A.L.O.’s social features so that learners could only interact with other people in their team or region. But instead, they decided to make things as open as possible, and gave the 10,000 learners complete social access to

everyone else!

You might think that this was a recipe for chaos, but actually the geographically diverse workforce has come together and formed a vibrant learning community, sharing business ideas, relevant

articles, and advice.

VIDEOS WITH THE CEO -H.A.L.O has caught the eye ofHendrick’s founder and chairman, Rick Hendrick, who now films a monthly ‘Message from Mr H’ videofor the platform. These videos are extremely popular, drawing crowds of learners back to H.A.L.O. and receiving thousands of views within

an hour of their release!

THEMES & COMPETITIONS - For special occasions, the platform is themed with

secrets to find. This keeps learners checking back regularly for a surprise.

H.A.L.O. ACTIVITY:Since launching H.A.L.O. in July 2015, the 10,000 learners have had more than 240,000 sessions on the platform, visited more than 784,000 pages, and consumed more than 200,000 pieces of content!The average time a learner spends on the site is a whopping 14 minutes and 42 seconds! This shows that they stay for a meaningful amount of

time, completing content and interacting with the social feed.

RESULTSTIME/COST SAVINGS:

The online component of the blended learning solution has led to huge financial and time savings. Even just having training coordinators manage classrooms through the LMS is saving 8 hours of work per

week!

Because compliance training is now handled efficiently online, valuable classroom time is freed up for embedding training and putting learning

into action.

IMPROVED PERFORMANCE:H.A.L.O. launched on July 1st 2015. The last quarter of the year was confirmed to be the most successful in Hendrick’s 40-year history, and H.A.L.O. is being used to ride that wave of momentum for an even better

2016.
