The Ensemble

At Kids 4 Harmony learning is based in ensemble experience. The first day a child joins Kids 4 Harmony, he/she becomes part of an ensemble through group learning and practice, sectional learning and frequent performance.

The orchestra becomes a paradigm of community in which cooperation not competition is the norm, and all are striving for the same goal.

Casual Concerts are held monthly at each site to inform families about what their children are learning, encourage students to become comfortable in front of audiences, build community, and to illustrate the strength of the group as they perform as an ensemble.

“With an orchestra you are building citizens, better citizens for the community.”

~Gustavo Dudamel, El Sistema Musician and Conductor, Los Angeles Philharmonic

“Music has to be recognized as an…agent

of social development in the highest

sense, because it transmits the highest

values - solidarity, harmony, mutual

compassion. And it has the ability to

unite an entire community and to express

sublime feelings.”

Jose Antonio Abreu, Founder, El Sistema
