    Storytime Clock

Any time is story time. Featuring artwork from re-

nowned illustrator Etienne Delessert, this attractive wall

clock will accent any number of rooms—from a child’s

bedroom or nursery to a library or classroom. It serves

as a delightful aid to telling time and as a reminder that

any time can be a good time for reading.

    Etienne Delessert Memory Game

This classic family game for children and adults gets

a fresh treatment with striking images taken from the

books of Etienne Delessert. Lay the tiles face down, and

take turns flipping over any two to test your powers of

observation and memory. The player who can find the

    most pairs wins!

A Number of Animals Nesting Blocks

Christopher Wormell’s bold block prints are featured

on a set of 10 counting nesting blocks that makes for a

lovely gift and an engaging toy. Follow one yellow chick

as it explores the farmyard in search of its mother, meet-

ing different animals on each block—from 2 horses and

3 cows all the way to 10 “chirping and cheeping” chicks.

The sturdy outer gift box opens to reveal 10 graduated

blocks that can be stacked into a tower nearly 3 feet high.

    Lineup for Yesterday Baseball Cards

In 1949, SPORT magazine published “Lineup for

Yesterday,” a collection of poems by Ogden Nash. In it,

the famous wordsmith paid entertaining tribute to 24

legends of the diamond, encapsulating each in just 4

clever lines. Creative Editions is proud to present Nash’s

classic odes in a boxed set of full-color commemorative

cards—the perfect gift for baseball fans of all ages.

The Forever Flowersby Michael J. Rosen

    illustrated by Sonja Danowski

In this tender story about the virtues of finding, keeping, and letting

go, a young grouse is waylaid on her seasonal migration and carries her

precious cargo to a new land. As the bird’s favorite Forever Flowers grow

from planted seeds to blooming flowers, she discovers how unexpectedly

one can stumble upon happiness and breathe into the contentment of

life’s quiet moments, even amidst winter’s gloom. When spring finally

arrives, the grouse must make a decision: should she stay or fly away?

Author Michael J. Rosen is an author, illustrator, and photographer who has created more than 100 books for young readers and adults, including Creative Editions’ Sailing the Unknown: Around the World with Captain Cook. In 2013, he adapted his classic picture book Elijah’s Angel into a full-length play for young audiences. He lives on a farm in the Appalachian foothills of eastern Ohio.

Artist Sonja Danowski is an illustrator and self-described “analogy archivist.” Her work has been selected several times for the Illustrators Exhibition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and in 2011, she was honored with a Silver Medal by 3x3 Magazine of Contemporary Illustra-tion at the Children’s Book Show. Harlem Hellfightersby J. Patrick Lewis

    illustrated by Gary Kelley

They went by many names, but the world came to know them best as

the Harlem Hellfighters. Two thousand strong, these black Americans

from New York took the fight to the Central Powers on the fields of

France. Some Hellfighters also picked up brass instruments—under the

leadership of famed bandleader and lieutenant James Reese Europe—to

take the musical sound of Harlem into the heart of war.

Mocha Dick: The Legend and Furyby Brian Heinz

    illustrated by Randall Enos

Believed to have been active from 1810 to 1859, Mocha Dick was infa-

mous for the ferocity of his retaliations against those who attempted to

capture him. From the first recorded encounter near the South Ameri-

can island of Mocha till the fatal harpoon blow, the sperm whale was

a legend in his own time. In language befitting a sea lore, Brian Heinz

describes characteristic episodes of the great whale’s life, as Randall Enos

stylizes the tale in a textured linocut collage evocative of scrimshaw.

Brian Heinz is the critically acclaimed author

of 15 books for young readers and is sought

after as a speaker on the craft of writing at

schools and professional conferences. This is

his third title for Creative Editions, following

Cheyenne Medicine Hat and Red Fox at

McCloskey’s Farm. He and his wife Judy

split their time between homes in New

York’s Wading River and the Adirondacks.

    Visit him online at www.brianheinz.com.

Randall Enos has illustrated for books,

magazines, and newspapers for more than

50 years. Born of Portuguese Azorean

heritage in the former whaling capital of the

world (New Bedford, Massachusetts), he has

carried with him a lifelong interest in the

history of whaling. This is his first book for

In 1839, Herman Melville was among the

New Yorkers who thrilled to a magazine

account of a white sperm whale’s attacks on

whaling ships. That whale was named

Mocha Dick, but 12 years later, he would be

    immortalized in fiction as Moby-Dick.

Believed to have been active from 1810 to

1859, Mocha Dick was infamous for the

ferocity of his retaliations against those who

attempted to capture him. From the first

recorded encounter near the South American

island of Mocha till the fatal harpoon blow,

Mocha Dick was a legend in his own time.

great whale’s life, as illustrator Randall Enos

Everything Is a Poem: The Best of J. Patrick Lewisby J. Patrick Lewis

    illustrated by Maria Cristina Pritelli

    J. Patrick Lewis did not come under poetry’s spell until late in life—but

when it struck, the former college economics professor was entranced.

This collection celebrates some of his best poems for children—some

silly, some serious, some historical, some invention, but all aimed to de-

light. The vibrant and playful illustrations of Italian artist Maria Cristina

Pritelli lend a sense of vitality to the words, underscoring the idea that
