Right click and bring up the menu to convert the echo pattern to a boundary. Fill patterns must be cropped by a boundary line.

Mark the block boundary. Place a quilting motif inside the boundary. Quilt the motif. Add an echo line around the quilted motif to compensate for shrinkage.

Place the fill pattern and right click to bring up the menu. Choose Fill Inside. (fill between two boundaries)

The finished pattern will stitch with no tie offs. This fill pattern is called Curves. www.anitashackelford.com

Mark boundaries around patchwork.

Place a fill pattern.

Use Fill Inside. Pattern cropped to fit each boundary.

Multiple blocks with sashing in between.

Place fill pattern, using Fill Inside.

Blocks filled.

Fill Outside will fill the sashing instead.

www.anitashackelford.com Note: This technique pushes the limits of CS and will sometimes add extra lines outside of the desired areas. Use Divide to remove them, if necessary.

Mark boundary of block and place pattern.

Select pattern and echo. Convert echo pattern to boundary.

Place fill pattern. Adjust to desired scale. Fill Inside, between two boundaries.

Background fill in place.

Echo inside. Convert echo pattern to boundary.

Remove the two previous boundaries.

Place another fill pattern and adjust to match density.

Fill inside. Finished pattern.

Note: These steps can be done as needed for a block and sewn in any order, or a full pattern can be created and saved as .csq to be used again.
