> Individual Roses Location: D-1 & R-7
Featuring a spectacular display of fragrant colourful blooms from October to June. Garden beds of standard, bush and weeping roses provide up to six memorial placements at each site. Plaque designs include borders of roses, and the Garden of Memories has a choice of a rose or pansy design.
> The Book of Remembrance Location: D-5
The Book of Remembrance serves as a permanent record and dignified memorial. Memorial entries are carefully inscribed by highly skilled artistes and entered in the Book under any date(s) selected. The entries may be up to ten lines. With entries of five or more lines, an emblem of your choice may be purchased. Books are displayed in a protective glass case, open on the corresponding day, enabling entries to be viewed at each anniversary in an atmosphere of privacy. Personal copies of entries are also available to purchase.
> Cremation MemorialsWith fragrant roses, stately trees, tranquil native bushland and water features here is a beautiful memorial landscape at its most evocative.
The manner in which a person is memorialised is of profound significance. If you are selecting a memorial site for a loved one, Your choice can reflect the life they lived, and how you remember them. This way, the emotional legacyof your loved one is sustained for generations to come.
If you are considering your own final wishes, choosing your memorial place ahead of time provides comfort in knowing the location will uniquely reflect you and your life. It is also a thoughtful way of providing a focal point for family and loved ones to gather and share precious memories in the years to come.
Memorials are offered in perpetuity, alternatively, you may elect to have a limited tenure of 25 years. Perpetual memorials allow families the comfort of knowing that their loved one’s memorial is etched in history for future generations at no further cost. Existing memorials with a limited tenure may be converted to perpetual at any time.
Ballarat New Cemetery provides a variety of places designed to meet individual wishes. Among them are beautiful landscaped gardens, individual roses, trees and boulders; tranquil native settings and traditional wall niches.. Our friendly professional staff are available at all times to help you select the perfect place to remember and be remembered.

> Birdsong Walk Location: O-10
Birdsong walk is a tranquil setting with a poetic fusion of sustainable native plantings and calming water features. Plaques options include designs of Birds, Kookaburras or Cockatoos.
> Tanderra Memorial Gardens & Fountain Gardens Location: P-2
Featuring garden beds and sweeping lawns, These Memorial Gardens arehome to a variety of trees and shrubs that transform with the changing seasons of the year. Urns containing cremated remains are placed in gardens beds and marked by memorials in natural stone. Each memorial has provisions for six placements, providing the opportunity for families to create a unique memorial in natural stone.
> Poet’s Walk Location: C-6
A native Australian bushland, with individual boulders positioned in private coves create a sense of being at peace with nature. The entrance of each cove is welcomed by a poem reflective of the peaceful native setting. Bronze plaques with a gumnut design are placed on individual rocks.

> Memorial Shrubs & Trees Location: D-1
A variety of memorial shrubs and trees, both flowering and evergreen, are placed throughout the gardens to cater for personal choice. Up to 16 placements and eight plaques may be located at each site, allowing for the creation of extensive family memorials which may be continued for future generations.
>5
> Perimeter Garden Bed MemorialsPerimeter placement memorials feature options of carefully tended garden beds of carpet roses or peaceful native garden beds with thoughtful plantings of kangaroo paw, correa, banksia, she-oak, grevillia and callistemon. The Book of Remembrance perimeter bed of rosemary plants includes a five line inscription into the memorial book.
> Niche WallsNiche Memorial Walls are set in peaceful surrounding garden areas. The cremated remains, sealed in a special container, are placed within a niche faced by a single bronze plaque. If a niche site does not allow for all of the cremated remains to be interred then we will seek advice from the family as to what to do with the remaining ashes.
> Dreamtime Location A-8
A place of belonging for those to be buried within their ancestral homeland which is the Wadawurrung country. The burial ground is open to all in our community and those wanting to be buried in a special area that recognises the traditional owners and has affinity with the beliefs of those aboriginal people that walked the land before any other cultures.

> Babies Garden Location: U-5
Located in the Babies Lawn grave area, the Babies Garden provides for the placement and memorialization of cremated remains of infants aged up to 12 months.
> Tree of Memories Location: U-5
The Tree of Memories which is located adjacent to the Babies Lawn is a tree sculptured in bronze and features hand crafted bronze leaves with individual inscriptions. This memorial provides the opportunity for families to commemorate any baby up to the age of twelve months including those lost through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.
> Contemplation Garden Location: D-4
Graceful and calm, the Contemplation Garden is a temporary placement site for families who have not yet decided on a permanent memorial for their loved one. Cremated remains are placed in a non-perishable container and identified with a nameplate on a granite block. There is no charge for this service.
>7
> PlaquesMemorial plaques are offered by Ballarat General Cemeteries Trust to complement various areas of the gardens. Manufactured in solid bronze, all plaques feature a protective coating and quality finish. Plaques for garden memorials are available in colours of blue, green maroon or a bronze finish. Wall niche plaques are available in bronze only. Options of additional remembrance, photographs and/or emblems of significance can be included.
> Bush Remembrance Walk Location: A-6
A natural bush area that gently and beautifully lends itself to the scattering of cremated remains. The particular location of the scattering is not marked or recorded, however a memorial may be arranged elsewhere within the cemetery as a lasting record for future generations. The area’s many walking tracks grant families privacy for reflection and solace while wandering among the native trees and pleasant wildflowers.
> What about scattering?Sometimes people believe that scattering cremated remains at a place of significance is the best way to honour the wishes of their loved one. Unfortunately, however, this does not always help family and friends when they need a place to visit and reflect. That’s because, while memorials certainly pay respect to the departed, their primary purpose is to assist the living. They offer a focal point for precious memories, and provide an opportunity to share these memories with family friends and future generations.
Note: Large detailed map on page 10
> UrnsA variety of urns in a range of sizes and finishes are available at the cemetery office. Suitable for placement at a memorial, display at home or to use for scattering services.
