No other OTC toothpaste is ADA Accepted for these 6 benefits. In addition, Crest Pro-Health is the only toothpaste that is ADA accepted for both sensitivity and gingivitis. Crest Pro-Health is available in an assortment of flavors.

Stannous FluorideSodium Hexametaphosphate

The active ingredient in Crest Pro-Health is stannous fluoride. It is an excellent antimicrobial, with both bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties. It reduces microorganisms associated with gingival inflammation/bleeding, caries, and breath malodor and renders remaining microorganisms less harmful in terms of the byproducts they produce. Stannous fluoride is also clinically proven to reduce dentinal hypersensitivity by blocking dentinal tubules.

Crest Pro-Health also contains sodium hexametaphosphate, which provides the cosmetic benefits of inhibiting calculus and extrinsic stain. Inflammation & bleedingProtects against hypersensitivity

21%Mankodi S, et al, J Clin Perio 2005Results from Mankodi et al, published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical Periodontology. This unique formula was compared to a sodium monofluorophosphate (MFP) negative control dentifrice. The stannous fluoride formula reduced gingival inflammation by 21.7% versus the negative control after 6 months of use.

Schiff T, et al, Compend Cont Educ Dent, 2005Protects against Sensitivity

44%Schiff T, et al, Compend Cont Educ Dent, 2005Published in 2005 in the Compendium of Continued Education in Dentistry, Schiff et al conducted a randomized, double blind clinical trial on 77 subjects to test both thermal and tactile sensitivity. The study was conducted according to the ADA guidelines for sensitivity. Crest Pro-Health demonstrated a 44% reduction in thermal sensitivity compared to the sodium fluoride control.

2XSchiff T, et al, Compend Cont Educ Dent, 2005Crest Pro-Health also showed twice the tolerance to tactile sensitivity compared to the sodium fluoride control.

Caries Protection

In a two year clinical conducted by Dr. George Stookey, patients demonstrated a significant reduction in decayed, missing, and filled teeth with the stannous fluoride dentifrice (a dual-phase early prototype of Crest Pro-Health). In fact, the stannous fluoride dentifrice performed comparable to a 2800 ppm fluoride toothpaste.

Inhibits Calculus

56%Schiff T, et al, Compend Cont Educ Dent, 2005In this double blind, parallel group, 6 month clinical study, Schiff et al compared the calculus inhibition of the stannous fluoride/sodium hexametaphosphate dentifrice to a multi-benefit triclosan/copolymer control dentifrice. At 6 months, the Crest ProHealth paste had a 56% reduction in calculus over the triclosan dentifrice.

96%Terezhalmy G, et al, Am J Dent, 2007Terezhalmy, et al. published a clinical study in the American Journal of Dentistry in 2007 that showed a 96% reduction in stain versus baseline after only 2 weeks of use, based on the Lobene Stain Score. Sodium hexametaphosphate coats the tooth to provide both stain removal and future stain prevention.
