The Strategy in Velondriake

To stop destructive fishing in particular beach seine and poison fishing to allow fish population to recover by increasing compliance and enforcement of the local law (Dina) on fishing in the Velondriake.

37pp• 7 cases fined/22 reported from Feb to Sept 2010• 16/30 beach seiners stopped (mayor) from Jan to Sept 2010

net/day/spring tide B to 12, and from 8 to 4 cases of PF/day/spring tide from Jan to Sept 2010

• 16/30 beach seiners stopped (mayor)• 4 known poison fishermen stopped
