Snježana KordićLinguistics

Snježana Kordić is a Croatian linguist and Slavist, specialising in the research of Serbo-Croatian grammar and sociolinguistics.

She is a professor at the Department of Contemporary Croatian Language at the University of Zagreb, and has published numerous scientific articles on syntax, text linguistics, pragmatics, semantics and lexicology. She is the author of monographs such as Relative Clauses and Words on the Border Between Lexicon and Grammar, and of the book Language and Nationalism, the subject of enormous media attention, and a turning point in the history of Croatian linguistics, a discipline hitherto regarded by the Croatian elite as a mere political tool for Croatian state-building. For Suježana the purpose of language is simply to communicate with as many people as possible.

She has also published books on grammar, and teaching manuals for the English and German-speaking public, as well as over 150 academic articles in various national and international publications.
