Crop insurance is purchased by agricultural producers, including farmers, ranchers, and others to protect themselves against either the loss of their crops due to natural disasters, such as hail, drought, and floods, or the loss of revenue due to declines in the prices of agricultural commodities. The two general categories of crop insurance are called crop-yield insurance and crop-revenue insurance.

INTRODUCTION

Page 3: Crop insurance

Crop-yield insurance: There are two main classes of crop-yield insurance:

Crop-hail insurance is generally available from private insurers because hail is a narrow peril that occurs in a limited place and its accumulated losses tend not to overwhelm the capital reserves of private insurers.

Multi-peril crop insurance (MPCI): Coverage in this type of insurance is

not limited to just one risk. Usually multi-peril crop insurance offers hail, excessive rain and drought in a combined package. Sometimes, additional risks such as insect or bacteria-related diseases are also offered. The problem with the multi-peril crop insurance is the possibility of a large scale event. Such an event can cause significant losses beyond the insurer's financial capacity. To make this class of insurance, the perils are often bundled together in a single policy, called a multi-peril crop insurance (MPCI) policy.

Crop-revenue insurance: Crop-yield times the crop price gives the crop-revenues. Based on farmer's revenues, crop-revenue insurance is based on deviation from the mean revenue Crop-revenue insurance covers the decline in price that occurs during the crop's growing season. It does not cover declines that may occur from one growing season to another

Before developing this application all activities done manually, then all the activities take more time and also take more manpower. Commission, interests, dues all is calculated manually, the calculations may result wrong sometimes.

All related information passed one branch to another branch through courier. Sometimes missed the important documents. So these problems overcome when we will develop the system. This system is very helpful to automation of entire Insurance system and also reduces the time and manpower

Drawbacks of present system

Every member organization has its own data structure

Due to lack of centralized data structure, it is very difficult to merge the data to analyze the statistics

Difficult to search for a data

Possibility of duplicates, etc

Page 6: Crop insurance

The Proposed system is a software application which avoids more manual hours that need to spend in record keeping and generating reports.

This application keeps the data in a centralized way which is available to all the users simultaneously. It is very easy to manage historical data in database. No specific training is required for the Branch Managers, Agents and Customers to use this application.

They can easily use the tool that decreases manual hours spending for normal things and hence increases the performance. As the data is centralized it is very easy to maintain the currently running projects with the company as well as future projects

The main theme of this project is automation of the Insurance System and processes the all activities through on line. Here the main advantage of this system is to access this database globally for authorized users. We are planning to add some more new schemes or policies that will be developed and updated in near future. And if any specification-untraced errors will be concentrated in the coming versions, which are planned to be developed in very nearby future
