17 very excited children boarded the bus and headed to Croydon Station on
Tuesday 11th September. After a few songs, the train arrived and we were off
to Box Hill. Shameem bought ice-creams from McDonalds, which were de-
voured in no time. On to the tram we hopped and counted the stops to #41 -
Kew Traffic School. A bit of lunch re-fueled our energy supplies for a quick
play in the park before entering Traffic School to meet Daniel. He reminded
us all about being safe pedestrians and passengers, and talked about the
road rules. Then it was time to get on the bikes and ride like crazy! There
were a few red-light and speeding offenses, but other than that, it was an ex-
tremely pleasant day. Thank you to Jason, Linda, Lisa, Rachael, Tum, Leah
and Peggy for accompanying us - your help was most appreciated.

Working Bee What a perfect day it was for hard work at the centre working bee. We are so grateful to families and staff members who came and gave us a hand. We were able to accomplish a great deal including all new sand and soft fall, as well as painting and gardening. We enjoyed our BBQ lunch and the time we could all spend getting to know each other better. A special thanks to our kid helpers too. Hope mum was able to get the paint out!!
September and October have been very busy months for the Kindi Kidz. We celebrated multicultural diversity, had the annual working bee at the centre,
visited Chesterfield Farm, made a special garden at the side entrance of our classroom and … I got married! After a beautiful ceremony in the Cook Is-lands, I am now Cassie Dalton. The children have been very excited to look
at my wedding photos and point out that I
have “married the man in the tree”. (There
is a photo of Owen and me on the Family
Tree in in the Kindi Kidz room! )
We will be spending a lot more time outside
now that the warmer months have arrived
and I emphasise the importance of dressing the kids in
„sunsmart‟ clothes and hats. This means a shirt with
shoulders covered (no singlets) and legionnaire or wide
brimmed hat.
It is against centre policy for the children to wear
thongs, so sturdy sandals or closed in shoes are pre-
ferred. If you have any questions or
concerns please see me.

In Science we learned about the human heart. We know where it is and the sound it
makes. We learned that our heart is about the same size as our fist. We listened with the stethoscope and then we watched Kiran have her blood pressure taken. We must be a pretty good class of kids because it was PERFECT!

What a fabulous day we had at
the farm on Wednesday
17th October.
Farmer Jessica was in
charge of our group and she
introduced us to LOTS of different animals.
We met pigs, cheeky goats, sheep, bossy emus, kangaroos, baby guinea pigs, deer, alpacas,
ponies, chicks, calves, bunnies, chooks, some crazy turkeys and the work dogs. The children witnessed firsthand where milk comes from
when they hand-milked Tiny Tina the dairy cow. Finn the dog showed off his skills as he rounded up the sheep, and a couple of kids were lucky enough to bottle feed the lambs. There was plenty of excitement throughout the day,
followed by a very quiet bus ride back to Kinder.

FRIDAY 9th NOVEMBER
Chicken Hatching - We decided to continue the children's interest in life cycles after Chesterfield Farm excursion. We have watched the eggs crack open and the baby chicks emerge. Very exciting! After they have grown up a bit the chicks will be adopted out to loving homes.
Parent Participation Parents are a child‟s most important teachers and so
any suggestions that families have to put forward for next
year‟s calendar would be most appreciated. We are
putting it together in November. You are also
most welcome to bring your talents and ideas to share
with us. Please read the notices near the sign in sheets.
These contain important updates for parents.
Blueberry Blueberry is the name of our blue tongue lizard. She lives in an enclosure outside and is very friendly. Blue tongues eat snails, fruit and vegies and live to between 20 –25 years. They have a bright blue tongue. Garden We have corn, strawberries, sunflowers and tomatoes growing in our vegie patch.
New Babies How thrilling it was to go into our animal nursery and find that our mother guinea pig had given birth to 2 gorgeous babies. Baby guineas are called puppies.
We are looking for bantams, ducklings and other interesting animals for our Farm. Can You Help?

DEECD Inspection
During September we received an inspection from the Dept. of Edu-cation and Early Childhood Devel-opment (DEECD). We are happy to report that only a few minor ad-justments need to be made to keep us in line with new regula-tions. These include a number of new policies regarding staffing ar-rangements and also some govern-ment training on child protection identification and law. Some Notes for Parents: *If your child receives a head in-jury, even minor, we are now re-quired to ring you. *If your name is highlighted on the sign out sheet PLEASE speak to the room supervisor. The matter may be urgent– do not ignore it!! *Please do not send “out of date” medication (even over the counter products). We cannot legally ad-minister them.
