Decision Making Under Stress• The greater the stress, the greater the likelihood that a decision-maker will choose a risky alternative.
• During crisis, the ability of a group to handle difficult tasks requiring intensely focused attention is decreased.
• The greater the stress, the greater the tendency to make a premature choice of alternatives for a correct response.
• The greater the stress, the less likely that individuals can tolerate "ambiguity".
• Under increasing stress, there is a decrease in productive thoughts and an increase in distracting thoughts.
• The greater the stress, the greater the distortion in perception of threat and poor judgment often occurs.
• The greater the fear, frustration and hostility aroused by a "crisis", the greater the tendency to aggression and escape behaviors.
• In a stressful situation (whether real or perceived stress), only immediate survival goals are considered. Long term considerations are sacrificed for short term goals.

Time…Where does it go?

60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week. Time cannot be saved or stored. It is not how much we have, but rather the way we use it.
The bottom line is how well we use it.
THE HEART OF TIME MANAGEMENT IS MANAGEMENT OF YOURSELF.
Time management is more than just managing our time; it is managing ourselves in relation to time.
It is setting priorities and taking charge of your situation and time utilization.
It means changing those habits or activities that cause us to waste time.
It is being willing to experiment with different methods and ideas to enable you to find the best way to make maximum use of time.

ESSENTIALLY EVERYTHING WE DO REQUIRES TIME. SOME EVENTS/ACTIVITIES ARE EXTERNALLY CONTROLLED: meetings, family obligations, work duties. OTHER ACTIVITIES ARE INTERNALLY CONTROLLED: chatting on the phone, commitment to a club or project, or just "messing around."

TIME, ORGANIZATION, AND WORK
1. Use an scheduler, Vista pad or Outlook calendar .
2. Make and use to do lists everyday. This list is a reminder.
3. Set priorities. Categorize to do list tasks into high, medium and low priorities.
4. Divide large tasks into several smaller parts. Focus on a small task to complete one part at a time.
5. Regularly ask yourself "What is the best use of my time right now?" Do that task.
6. Anticipate deadlines and foreseeable high stress periods and plan.
7. Schedule time for breaks. It can be hard to stay focused when you're tired, restless or hungry. Get up and stretch or have a snack. Keep breaks to 10-15 minutes as allowed.
8. Learn to say “no” when needed. Commit yourself only to those activities for which you have time.
9. Learn to say “later”. Postpone some phone calls and visits.
10. Take regular vacations.
