To measure the fuel (diesel and fuel oil) consumption of
the engines that generate power, Endesa Generacin putsits trust
in the quality and accuracy of Endress+HauserPromass flowmeters.
This measurement is the basis forthe calculation of greenhouse
gases emissions.
To ensure optimum operation, flowmeter calibration has to
beperformed as quickly as possible, and only when gensets
arestopped. Endress+Hauser allows Endesa Generacin to meetthis
requirement by providing on-site calibration services.

Mobile rig enables quick owmeter calibration on site
Our solution
Calibration of a flowmeterinvolves disassembling it,
packaging the device andsending it to a specialistlaboratory.
During the time
the device is unavailable, asubstitute flowmeter needs tobe
mounted into the process.
With 58 Coriolis flowmeterssited in different diesel plantsin
Ceuta and Melilla, and alsoacross the Balearic and Canary
islands (Menorca, Tenerife,Lanzarote and el Hierro),
periodical calibration couldrapidly turn into a nightmare
for Endesa Generacin.
Endress+Hauser proposed aflexible, mobile solution thatenables
flowmeter calibrationto be performed on-site.This not only
simplifies but alsoshortens the calibration process.
The mobile calibration setis shipped to the requiredlocation. On
site, theEndress+Hauser servicetechnician performs
calibration according to theEndress+Hauser qualitystandards as
written in theStandard Operating Procedures(SOPs) and delivers
the
appropriate certicates.

Scheduling If needed, we visit the facility to dene the scope of
the service
and specic details. Our service coordinator gets in touch in
good
time to schedule a date according to the customers needs
andplant availability.
2 Flexible, mobile calibration All the hi-tech equipment is
mounted and packaged in three ightcases. The mobile calibration set
is ready for shipment by air orsea to the required location.
3 Execution On site, our qualied service technicians perform the
calibrationof owmeters according to our Standard Operating
Procedures. In
Ceuta, 11 Promass Coriolis owmeters were calibrated within
three
working days.
4 Completion For each calibrated device, we deliver a Certicate
of Calibration ofUUT (Unit Under Test) as well as the master meters
SCS certicate.

At Endesa Central Diesel de Ceuta,, we need to
periodicallycalibrate11 fowmeters.We thought that we would haveto
disassemble them and send them for calibration to theEndress+Hauser
laboratory with consequent loss of time. As we hadonly one
substitute owmeter, the calibration process would have
lasted several months. Thanks to the new mobile calibration
ow
rig, the work was executed on site in just three days.
