Drop Dead Cloth-ing is a alter-native cloth-ing line which was started up and is owned by Oliver Sykes. He began the cloth-ing line after dropping out of college, feel-ing that furthur education wasn't really for him. At the begin-ning designs made were mainly hand-drawn, and then transferred onto the t-shirts and other clothing materi-als from there.

After gaining lots of inter-est from the public Oli began to create more and more de-signs, and sold a lot of these at Bring Me The

As Drop Dead Cloting grew more and more popular the quality of the pictures im-proved dramati-cally, and many were editted on a computer using photo editting programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Fireworks to change and im-prove the image quality and ap-pearance.

Today the cloth-ing line is known and ships worldwide, and

is one of the most popular alternative clothing lines. Oliver Sykes now employs his younger brother Tom Sykes and his mother Carol Sykes to help organise and run the business while he’s busy with Bring Me The Horizon or other business.

How long has the clothing company

been going?

: The clothing company started

in early 2005 so almost 6 years

now.

How did it all start?

: I was in col-lege and really

liked design and art and I was

excelling a lot faster than what

I was learn-ing so I needed

something like a clothing line to outlet my crea-

tivity.

My mum lent me £500 to order

designs and we sold 25 Tees in

-end!

Have you achieved or sur-passed these?

: I have, far more than ex-pected. Thing’s just blew up with the cloth-ing line and I couldn’t be more grateful!

What message do your clothes give out?

: Don’t eat meat! Oh yeah and party in squads haha! I don’t think Drop Dead has a con-crete message. I just like to work with peo-ple who have the same ideas as me and make clothes.

What is the ethos behind your company?

: My mum and all the wonderful things she does, and my good-

Have you found anyone trying to copy your designs, if so what have you done about it?

: There have been very similar de-signs as ours. It’s too bad people feel the need to go the low route and copy our original artwork.

What would you say to people thinking about starting their own clothing range?

: Find a good screen printer. If

art, search for great artists with original ideas. It might cost more for their art but it will be worth it in the end.

Anything they need to watch out for?

: Staying original and keeping a positive attitude when it comes to feedback.
