Description of Property and Justification: (Please attach map and photo)
The Kenneth Lore house is an abandoned dwelling located on the west side of Maryland 2/4 (Solomons Island Road). It is located southeast of the Solomons Methodist Cemetery (CT-888), east of the Patuxent Naval Recreation Center, and north of the sewage treatment plant.
Two stories in height, the dwelling can be described as a Dutch colonial revival; it dates from c. 1930 and encloses 1,830 square feet. It has frame construction and is covered with aluminum siding. It has a full basement. The poor condition of the hosue has comprimised its integrity, as character-defining features have been destroyed, such as windows, doors, and door surrounds. The associated frame garage, located to the north, lays in collapse on the ground. The landscaping, including magnolias and cedars, is overgrown and obscures the view of the house from the highway.
Based on preliminary research, the Kenneth Lore House is not associated with events and trends that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history, disqualifying it for eligibility under Criterion A. The property is not associated with any person or group of persons of outstanding importance to the community, state, or nation, disqualifying the property under Criterion B. The integrity of design, materials, and workmanship of the Kenneth Lore House has been significantly diminished by
