CT ABRSM Plus

ABRSM is the world’s leading authority on musical assessment. We actively support and encourage music learning for all. The CT ABRSM Plus course combines two highly respected letter-bearing qualifications:1. Certificate of Teaching (CT ABRSM) and;2. Principles of Teaching diploma (DipABRSM)

This authentic ABRSM course is designed to develop your teaching skills and help you to discover the right approach for you and your students. Upon completion of the course you’ll be able to review your own teaching and make judgements about how effective it is, as well as introduce new teaching techniques to your lessons.

What does the CT ABRSM Plus course involve? 吸取教學經驗達到目標

Designed to fit around a busy teaching schedule, the course consists of 11 study days spread over six months. 11天課程，分3期完成

You will be asked to complete:• Three written assignments

Between study sessions you will work with one of our mentors. Through video observations of your teaching, your mentor will offer feedback highlighting what you are doing well, noting areas for improvement and suggesting new ideas that you could incorporate. You and your mentor will agree an individual programme of work and set personal objectives. 視課環節經由導師指導及同學回應共同吸取教學目標

Part of the course will be dedicated to preparation for the Principles of Teaching diploma. Students who successfully complete the Certificate of Teaching may then continue to take their diploma exam. The diploma consists of two sections; 文憑試包括;

1. Viva Voce 口試: a discussion with the examiners including demonstrations of teaching approaches and performance of pre-prepared repertoire.

2. Written submission and a performance of a short piece of previously unseen music similar in standard to ABRSM Grade 6 repertoire. Students will be able to substitute part of their Certificate of Teaching qualification the written submission. 專題寫作及快速演譯 相等於6級程度之樂曲

The course will be delivered in English with some Cantonese commentary. Written assignments can be submitted in Chinese but will only be accepted if accompanied by an English translation. 本課程主要以英語為主, 一般課堂將備中英雙語解說。而課題寫作均以英文為主, 如學生選擇以中文撰寫課題及以中文作視學示範, 必須同時提交英文譯本。

Who is the course for?Experienced instrumental and vocal teachers who are interested in expanding their knowledge and understanding of teaching and music education. 本課程是為經驗豐富並有志深造的器樂及聲樂教師而設,以擴闊他們在音樂範疇的專業知識及提高技巧水平。

Anyone aged 21 years or over who has a minimum of one year’s teaching experience and teaches at least five students regularly can apply. 21歲或以上 己教授五名學生或以上

As well as meeting with colleagues at your regional centre you will have access to our unique online course resources and forums between study sessions.

• Join our professional alumni 加入舊生會All successful students will be invited to join our CT ABRSM Alumni online community.

• Refresh your approach to teaching 更新教學Explore all aspects of your current teaching and evaluate its effectiveness. Try out new ideas with your students between study sessions and then discuss the results with your course colleagues.

• Accreditation認証資格The CT ABRSM qualification is recognised by the British Open University. Students are given 35 points of credit at degree level 2 for successful completion of the course.

CT ABRSM 「英國皇家音樂學院」教學進階證書The Certificate of Teaching element of this course is continually assessed and each assignment will be sent to your mentor and graded as one of Excellent, Pass 1, Pass 2 or Working Towards. 分優等、合格一、合格ニ及仍需努力

The course director, your course leader and subject mentor will moderate your portfolio of work. You will have the opportunity to discuss how your work has been marked and the grade awarded with your mentor at the time. You will be encouraged to evaluate your own work throughout.

Principals of Teaching diploma 教學文憑The Principles of Teaching diploma will be marked by an examiner. The mark awarded will depend upon the extent to which you have demonstrated the skills, knowledge and understanding required at DipABRSM level.

You must have passed ABRSM Grade 8 Practical in the instrument taught or a permitted substitution, and ABRSM Grade 6 Music Theory (1992 syllabus) or a permitted substitution if you wish to take the diploma exam.已獲ABRSM第八級證書或同等資歷, 及ABRSM第六級樂理證書(1992年大綱) 或同等資歷

It is possible to tailor your assignments to reflect the teaching issues you currently face, making the course relevant to each student. You’ll need to set aside enough time to complete your assignments and read around the subject.
