HD Resident Services friendly reminders:

Tenants please be respectful to your neighbor as they have a right to peaceful enjoyment as well.

It’s a HUD requirement to report all extended guests in your unit to HD, if you do not that’s out of compliance.

Please report/update all income to HD during recertification process; ones receiving Social Security need to provide

updated reward letter current to that day or month reported (thank you).

Please report to Animal Control and make sure your pet is registered, show copies of vaccinations for parvo and/or ra-

bies shots. If you do not it is a lease violation and a safety and health hazard.

Wintertime check list; keep a constant thermostat 70, coil up water hoses, we’ll cover spigot, keep air-flow in sinks

with doors open.

Please keep all your rental areas clean of deer/elk carcasses, hides, horns, hooves as they bring even more pests to the

area.

Also no tarps blocking car port, no debris/rubbish, blocking front/back door for emergency access, no wood pile

against walls.

Please do not use neighbors trash bin as that’s not yours to utilize, thank you.

Yellowhawk’s ‘Sons & Daughters of Tradition’ Afterschool Programs are ready this Fall 2015! ALL YOUTH These are co-facilitated by Yellowhawk Substance Abuse Prevention & Youth Suicide Prevention Program.

Washington Elementary YOUTH, for grades 3-5, on MONDAYS from 3-4pm at Washington School.

to utilize shared resources, services & programs from maintenance tips, financial wellness & answer

HD questions.

Pizza will be provided and door prizes are to be given out during the fair, stop by & say ‘howdy!’

November is Native American Heritage Month:

It’s important to remember the native people of our area known today as the

Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. They’ve been here

since time immemorial before the town of Pendleton, even the USA the

people from this land are still referred to as:

‘Wallulapum,’ ‘Imatallampum’ and ‘Wailatpuu’ or today the Walla-Wallas,

Umatillas and Cayuse people of Nixyaawii.

The strong and proud horse experts roamed freely all over the countryside,

also known as master fisherman, hunters, travelers, warrior people living

100% off the land: they’d hunt buffalo, deer, elk, dig assorted roots, pick

assorted berries, catch all kinds of fish mainly Salmon.

They traveled all over but not limited to: the Dakotas, Canada, California

and up & down the western coast. But it’s recorded too by some of the fam-

ily stories told of a time of traveling on horseback witnessed the big falls of Niagara, learned about the first Europeans on the eastern coast; even

the swampy hot areas of Florida; even seeing big giant cats aka tigers even in Central America.

Our Tribal Nation had their own economy or trading routes, one of the biggest ones in the PNW was the roaring thunder misty fishing site of

atway Celilo Falls. It was there many tribal nations came to trade with the local Natives for only the best Salmon to trade with near and afar

tribes; along for tools, supplies, weapons, even horses, they would even bet and race horses; play stick games(guessing game) social dances &

dinners. They practiced their first religion which was just an everyday part of life called ‘Waashat’ the dreamer faith they’d pray for Mother

nature and be thankful for what we have and for the ones yet to come.

So now you have a better understanding of the still ever so proud Indigenous people of CTUIR aka the ’Natitayt’’Tanun’’Titookin’’Tiinma’ that

still practice, pray, sing, hunt, dig, fish and live on the land like all the ones before them.

Credit Reports: When Was the Last Time You

rected. If your report lists open credit cards or loans that are not yours, you might be a victim of identity

theft. You need to contact the creditor to close the account ASAP; let the credit reporting agency know

the account is not yours and file a statement with Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.org).

Information is power so the more you know the better you can

protect yourself.
