AbCubist PharmaceuticalsCubist Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the research, development, and commercialization of pharmaceutical products that address significant unmetmedical needs in the acute care environment. Based in Lexington, MA, Cubist currently employsover 900 people, with 600 employees in Massachusetts. Cubist markets products for Gram- positive infections, gastrointestinal recovery, and Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea. Cubist has also partnered to promote others’ products in the infectious disease space. Cubist’s acquisition of Trius Therapeutics and Optimer Pharmaceuticals also marks an important milestone, bolstering its leadership in acute care.

Cubist’s clinical product pipeline currently consists of a Phase 3 program focused on the development of a novel cephalosporin to address certain serious infections caused by multi-drug resistant (MDR) Gram-negative organisms, a Phase 3 program for the treatment of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD), and a Phase 3 program for the treatment of chronic opioid induced constipation (OIC) in patients with chronic non-cancer pain. Cubist also is working on several pre-clinical programs being developed to address areas of significant

medical need, including therapies to treat various serious bacterial infections.

Today, Cubist partners with other pharmaceutical companies to make our products available outside the U.S. in more than 70 countries, and the list continues to grow. Since 2008, Cubist has awarded more than $1.4 million to nonprofit organizations with programs that are inspiring young minds to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) fields and providing ways for teachers to incorporate creative techniques in their classrooms.

Abthe AreaWhile considered a hub of academia because of its many institutions of higher education and commitment to intellectual curiosity and achievement, Boston is more than just the sum of its colleges and universities. Boston is an evening stroll through Beacon Hill, a morning row on the Charles River, an afternoon of people-watching in Quincy Market, or an adventure through time while tracing the steps of the American Revolution along the Freedom Trail. It’s Opening Day at Fenway Park, high-end shopping on Newbury Street, alfresco dining in the North End, and dancing and nightlife on Landsdowne Street.

Boston is many things to those who live here, but above all, it is a vibrant city that feeds off its own diversity. You feel it as much on the sidewalks as you do in the city’s cultural institutions and ethnic celebrations. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Boston is situated in mid-New England within driving distance of other prominent cities such as: Portland, Maine; Providence, Rhode Island; Hartford, Connecticut; and New York, New York.

Cubist Pharmaceuticals is headquartered in Lexington, MA, approximately 15 miles from Northeastern University, which is located in the heart of Boston.
