Parent organization of the college is, ‘Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha’ (MKSSS). This organization is managed by an Elected Managing Committee. Nominal members of the MKSSS elect this committee, every five years. Managing Committee of the MKSSS is the apex Governing Body which takes policy decisions about all units run by MKSSS. All the activities of the college are run and controlled, as indicated in the above organizational Chart.

4.5 Nature and Extent of Involvement of Faculty and Students in Academic affairs / Improvements :

• Cummins College is affiliated to the University of Pune. Faculty members conduct classes to complete coursework framed by University of Pune.

• Faculty is also involved in End Semester Examination (Theory & Practicals).

• Faculty organizes workshops, seminars, expert lectures for students as well as staff members.

• Every semester students give feedback about faculty. On the basis of which HoDs give suggestions to the faculty for improvement.

4.6 Mechanism / Norms & Procedure for Democratic / Good Governance : Following points indicate that day to day working of the college is carried out in a proper, democratic way.

i) Local Managing Committee of Cummins College decides policies and

takes administrative, financial & Human Resources related decisions. Representatives of Teaching & Nonteaching Staff are members of LMC.

ii) Decisions regarding all academic matters are taken by Heads of

Departments and teachers from respective Departments, with necessary approval from the Principal.

iii) HoDs decide budget of department with the help of faculty members. With the approval of Purchase Subcommittee, HoD can carryout purchases related to department.

iv) Students elect their representatives for student related activities.

These elected members have interface with faculty and administration. They are involved in related decision making.

4.7 Students’ Feedback on Institutional Governance / Faculty Performance :

For every semester, feed back from all the students is obtained through a questionnaire. This feed back helps all the teachers to improve / correct

their teaching process. HoDs take review of feedback.

4.8 Grievance Redressal Mechanism for Faculty, Staff and Students :

To understand and to solve various grievances of teaching non-teaching faculty members, members have been instructed to submit in writing, their grievances to The Principal. Principal submits all such written grievances to the Local Managing Committee, for necessary action. In addition, faculty & Staff can approach their representatives in LMC who can take-up the grievance issues in managing committee.

5.1 Programs Approved by the AICTE :

Following Engineering Undergraduate Programs have been approved by AICTE. i) Bachelor of Engineering ( Electronics and Telecommunication ) ii) Bachelor of Engineering ( Computer Engineering ) iii) Bachelor of Engineering ( Instrumentation and Control ) iv) Bachelor of Engineering ( Information Technology ). v) Bachelor of Engineering ( Mechanical Engineering ). Following Engineering Postgraduate Programs have been approved by AICTE. (i) Master of Engineering (Electronics & Telecommunication –

Specialization in Signal Processing) (ii) Master of Engineering (Instrumentation & Control – Biomedical

Engineering)

5.2 Programs accredited by the AICTE :

(i) Bachelor of Engineering ( Electronics and Telecommunication ) (ii) Bachelor of Engineering ( Computer Engineering ) (iii) Bachelor of Engineering ( Instrumentation and Control )

These programs are accredited three times since 1997. Current accreditation is valid up to August 2009. We have applied for the accreditation of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering. Instrumentation & Control Engineering & information technology U.G. programs. Mechanical Engineering course is started from 2007. Yet First Batch of Mechanical Engineering is not passed-out. Similarly, P.G. Courses are started from this year only. Hence, college has not applied for accreditation of Mechanical Engineering and P.G. courses.

Details About Fees, as Approved by State Govt.:

As per the directives of Hon. Supreme court, Maharashtra Govt. appointed a Fee Structure Committee to finalize fee structure of every college. The Shikshan Shulka Samati has declared the final fees for the academic year 2008-2009. Rs. 48790/- as tuition fees + Rs. 6200/- as development fees ---------------------- Total Rs. 54990/- for 2008-09 ----------------------

Postgraduage Course

Post Graduate courses are started from Academic Year 2009-10. This being the first year, Rs.50,000/- adhoc fee is charged as per the guidelines of “Shikshan Shulka Samati”.

Time Schedule for Payment of Fees :

At the time of admission students pays the entire fees. However, the needy students pay the fees in Installments.

Please see Annexure-III : College has not opted the tuition fees waiver scheme. The College has done the provision to provide the financial aid to needy students depending upon the financial status of parents & academic performance.

Please see Anexure IV : Various Scholarships Schemes are available to the students from Samstha as well as Social Welfare & Zillha Parishad. From these various Scholarship schemes students are getting the financial benefits in fees. Approximately 500 students avail the scholarships.

For our hostel students, we charge following fees: Hostel Deposit (Refundable) - Rs. 11,000/- per year Hostel Accommodation - Rs. 15,000/- per year Hostel Mess Charges - Rs. 11,275/- per year ------------------------------- Total Annaual Fees. - Rs. 37,275/- per year.

10. Admission Procedure : Undergraduate Program:-

Admissions are carried out as per the State Govt. directives. 80% seats are allotted by State Govt. on the basis of marks scored at MH-CET 09 (Maharashtra Govt. Entrance Test for Engineering) and AIEEE Examination. 65% seats are allotted on MH-CET and 15% seats are allotted on the basis of AIEEE. 20% seats are filled at Institute level (Management Quota).

Postgraduate Program:-

Advertisement about the seats available was given in the newspapers and also it was published on the college website. Admissions are given on the basis of GATE score and college level entrance test.

Calendar for Admissions Against Management Quota / Vacant Seats :

Admissions against Institute level are executed separately as per merit by the principal. All the seats get filled up by end of August.

Applications for admissions against Institute level seats were accepted till 28

th August, 2008 for Academic Year 2008-09. Immediately

after that, merit list of such candidates was displayed on notice board / college website and admission were executed by merit.

Admission process for the Academic Year 2009-10 is in process. Last date for applications against Institute level seats is decided on 31

st

August 2009.

11. Criteria and Weights for Admission :

Undergraduate Program:- HSC Examination with minimum 50 % marks in (Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics) group is the criterion to become eligible for admission to a Degree Program in Engineering.

65% seats filled through CAP round are based on MHT-CET 2009. 15% seats get filled through CAP round on the basis of AIEEE score.

Postgraduate Program:- For the Postgraduate admissions GATE Score is the criteria for the admission. For sponsored candidates Entrance Test is conducted at Institute level on the basis of entrance test score admissions are given.

12. Application Form : Undergraduate Program:- 65 % and 15 % candidates ( as stated in item no. 11.1 ) submit their applications for admission directly to Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Maharashtra. The necessary application form for admission is available on DTE website www.dte.org.in. For admission under institute level, candidates submit a separate application made available by our college. This form is available on our Web site also. Our web site address is www.cumminscollege.org A copy of our application form is enclosed as Annexure- V Postgraduate Program:- Application form is made available on college website www.cumminscollege.org. It is also available in the printed form in the college office. A copy of our application form is enclosed as Annexure- V.
