What a great effort from our Cross Country team last week. We had a lot of people run personal bests and a number have been successful in gaining a place in the Regional Carnival. Mr Bourke was very pleased and proud of the behaviour and sportsmanship dis-played by all of our students. Special mention goes to our parents who go along and assist on the day and make it memorable for everyone who attended. Well done again.
Congratulations as well to Ms Kerrie Hansen who has gained a permanent appointment at Cundletown Pub-lic School. Ms Hansen has been a temporary teacher for the last seven years and was successful in a merit selection process where she was competing against a number of other candidates via a written application and in an interview. My thanks go to Mrs Abraham and Claire Woollard who were the other members of the selection panel.
In other news, Mrs Roberts will be the relieving princi-pal at Mount George Public School for the short to medium term. This is an exciting opportunity for Mrs Roberts as she will be able to bring her expertise in running small schools to Mount George. While Mrs Roberts is at Mount George, Ms Simone Colville will be taking KR until Mrs Roberts return. We wish Mrs Roberts well and welcome Ms Colville to Cundletown Public School from next Monday.
A reminder about our P&C meeting that is on tonight. One agenda item is a possible change to our meeting dates. For many, many years, our P&C meetings have been on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Sometimes this has led to meetings happening at the very end and very beginning of each term, with holi-days in between. The proposed change will see our P&C meeting in Week 3 and Week 8 of each term (still on a Tuesday), so there will be a 5 week gap be-tween each meeting and two meetings per term. I can see that this will be a great thing for our P&C who really support our school in many, many ways. Parents of children in years 3 and 5 please be aware that your child/ren will be taking part in the NAPLAN test next week. It is important that all children partici-pate in this assessment where possible. If for some

Kids need a minimum of 30 minutes exercise everyday - Do you do that?
Did you know that one step uses 200 muscles
– WOW! That’s a lot! You only use 17 to smile.
See it’s easy to get that amount of exercise if
you walk to and from school—smiling!

SPORT: WOTZON!
Zone Cross Country Carnival What a fantastic day! We had one of our most successful Zone Carnivals in recent years. The whole squad is to be congratu-lated for their effort in competing, great sportsman-ship and excellent behaviour throughout. All 32 run-ners gave 100% and when they weren’t slogging it out on the course, they were madly cheering on their team mates. A huge congratulations must go to the following com-petitors who were successful in making the Manning Zone Squad to compete next Friday at Newcastle:- HARRY LORETAN 3rd (10yrs) WILL KELLY 6th (8/9yrs) KYE ANDREW 6th (10yrs) HAYLEY MANUS 6th (8/9yrs) We wish our runners the best of luck. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the par-ents and relatives who were able to attend to support and cheer on the children. A special mention must go to Dana Wyse who did a wonderful job of managing the team (as always). Your assistance is greatly ap-preciated. Yours in sport Graham Bourke
