●  The Government of India has decided to launch a massive rural public works scheme 'Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan' to empower and provide livelihood opportunities to the returnee migrant workers and rural citizens.

●  The campaign of 125 days across 116 districts in 6 states aims to work in mission mode to help migrant workers.

●  Azerbaijan’s Shakhriyar Mamedyarov bagged top honours at the World Stars Sharjah Online International Chess Championship.

●  Grandmaster Mamedyarov won the coveted title and pocketed $3000 with 7.5 points from 10 rounds Indian Grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna finished second with 6.5 points after losing his 10th and final round game to Radoslaw Wojtszek.

●  Both Mamedyarov and Harikrishna had chances to win the title as at the start of the final round they were on 6.5 points each.

●  Luck eluded the Indian as he lost his 10th and final round game to Poland’s Radoslaw Wojtszek. Harikrishan finished second with 6.5 points.

●  Mamedyarov, who remained the only unbeaten player in the double round-robin tournament, got the better off UAE Grandmaster Salem Abdulrahman Mohamed Saleh to grab the victory.

Delhi govt caps rate of COVID-19 test at Rs 2,400 दिल्ली सरकार ने COVID-19 परीक्षण की दर 2,400 रुपये रखी

●  The Delhi government has decided to cap the rate of COVID-19 RT-PCR test at Rs 2,400 with the city witnessing an alarming spurt in coronavirus cases.

●  The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) approved the recommendations of a high-level expert committee for fixing the COVID-19 testing rate at Rs 2,400 for all facilities including private and government.

●  The government started using rapid antigen kits for COVID-19 testing in containment zones and healthcare settings and fixed the rate at Rs 450.

●  With the capping of COVID-19 RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test and commencement of rapid antigen test, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hoped that the people won''t face any problem in getting themselves tested now.

•  दिल्ली सरकार ने कोरोनवाइरस के मामलों में खतरनाक स्थिति को देखते हुए सीओवीआईडी -19 आरटी-पीसीआर परीक्षण की दर 2,400 रुपये करने का फैसला किया है।

•  COVID-19 RT-PCR (रिवर्स ट्रांसक्रिप्शन पोलीमरेज़ चेन रिएक्शन) टेस्ट के कैपिंग और रैपिड एंटीजन टेस्ट के शुरू होने के साथ, मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने उम्मीद जताई कि लोगों को अब टेस्ट कराने में किसी भी समस्या का सामना नहीं करना पड़ेगा।

Rapid antigen detection test

•  It is a test on swabbed nasal samples that detects antigens that are found on or within the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

•  It is a point-of-care test, performed outside the conventional laboratory setting, and is used to quickly obtain a diagnostic result.

•  Like RT-PCR, the rapid antigen detection test too seeks to detect the virus rather than the antibodies produced by the body.

•  The most significant difference between the two is time. •  RT-PCR test takes a minimum of 2-5 hours including the time taken for sample transportation. •  In a rapid antigen detection test, the maximum duration for interpreting a positive or negative

test is 30 minutes.

●  Recently, three Olms have been put on display in Slovenia’s Postojna Cave, where they hatched in 2016 in a rare successful breeding.

●  The Olms are eyeless (skin covered eyes) pink salamanders also known as the "baby dragon" and "human fish" for its pale skin-like colour.

●  They feed on detritus and endemic cave vertebrates and hide in crevices or bottom sediment when disturbed. They can survive without food for up to 10 years.

●  A long-lived species that only matures to a sexual stage after the age of 12-15 years and reproduces very slowly.

●  It can live a century and breeds only once a decade usually in laboratories throughout Europe or deep in caves away from people.

●  They have a powerful sensory system of smell, taste, hearing and electrosensitivity.
