China has appointed veteran diplomat Sun Weidong its new Ambassador to India, in
place of Luo Zhaohui, who was recently promoted to the post of Vice Foreign Minister.
Sun served as the Director-General in China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Policy Planning
Department before being appointed to the current post. He has also held the post of

What: emerges as India’s most trusted brand

Dell has emerged as the most trusted brand in India in 2019, according to a report
released by brand analytics firm TRA Research.
Dell climbed five ranks over the previous year to grab the top spot and also introduced
the laptop category in the report.
With 31% Brand Trust Index (BTI) difference from Dell, auto brand Jeep makes a
dramatic entry in the second spot with a massive jump of 551 ranks over last year. LIC
and Amazon are ranked on the third and fourth spots and Apple iPhone emerged as
India’s fifth most trusted brand, rising 116 ranks from 2018.
Samsung is at sixth spot and is the leader among mobile phones. Occupying seventh
rank, LG’s televisions are also the leader in the consumer electronics super-category.
The eighth most trusted brand rank is held by Aviva Life Insurance, Maruti Suzuki is at
ninth position and is followed by the State Bank of India at tenth place.

Indian Institute of Technology-Roorkee.

Bangladesh has unveiled a growth-friendly budget focussed on infrastructure
development. Introducing the budget proposal on behalf of the ailing Finance Minister
AHM Mustafa Kamal in Dhaka yesterday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina set a GDP
growth rate of 8.2 percent for the current financial year.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that the poverty rate will be brought down by
10 percent in the next four years through a coordinated approach engaging the private
sector to supplement the government’s anti-poverty initiatives. The budget envisages
creation of jobs for 30 million people by 2030 and attain a double digit GDP growth in

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has signed a contract worth of Rs 1,187.82 crore for
supply of Heavy Weight Torpedoes - Varunastra - to the Indian Navy.
The contract was inked by NP Diwakar, Director (Technical), BDL and Nidhi Chhibber,
Joint Secretary & Acquisition Manager (Maritime & Systems), Ministry of Defence, Govt
of India in New Delhi.
The execution of the contract will be over the next 42 months. The weapon will be
manufactured at BDL Visakhapatnam Unit under collaboration with the Defence
Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The Heavy Weight Torpedo or the
Varunastra is a ship launched, electrically propelled underwater weapon equipped with
one of the most advanced automatic and remote controlled guidance systems.

The Central government has decided to increase coverage of piped water to households
from current 18 per cent to 100 per cent by 2024, said Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra

He however, insisted that 'water' was a state subject as per the Constitution and sought
collective efforts and a public movement to achieve the target.
Shekhawat said Sikkim had 99 per cent coverage of piped water to households, while
some states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand had below five per cent.

India inaugurated the exhibition titled "Astitva: The Essence of Prabhakar Barwe”, at
National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi today.
Highlighting the significance of museums, the Culture Minister said that museums are
required ‘to look into our past thereby helping us to move forward in life by learning
things from the past’. The Minister also added the museums act as a ‘symbol of respect
for our ancestors’. The Minister further added that going to the nature and art, helps us
to have a peaceful mind and quell arrogance, for this we also need to respect our art &
Gurus.
‘Astitva : The essence of Prabhakar Barwe’, is the first of its kind to be held in New Delhi
that will present his artistic oeuvre in four distinct phases. The artworks are
chronologically orchestrated in each space, each representing a peculiar phase of
Barwe's practice. Beginning with Roop Tantra, one encounters Barwe's early works from
Sir J.J. School of Art and their transition into Tantric formations. Accompanied with
designs made by the artist during his years at the Weavers Service Centre and a few
textile works will be displayed, depicting Barwe's engrossment and turn from design
into Tantra, and ultimately into his own Swatantra, reflected through his work Ethereal
Transitions. Works beginning from 1958 until 1977 form a part of this space. The next
two segments are the Roop Artha that traces the cognitive shifts in the mind of the
artist; the paintings with subtle tones comprising Barwe's creations from 1972 to 1988,
and the Roop Tattva, which becomes an allegory to Barwe's work, Many Identities of the
Self that displays paintings from the late 1980s to his last unfinished canvas.
