Current Issues New Board Elected – The Council elected a new Board of Directors at its AGM in Halifax last month. Under the Chairmanship of Dwayne Hihn, President of Manitoulin Global Forwarding, the Board now comprises 23 members. New to the Executive Committee is David McCormick, Managing Partner of Pivotal ACTION FORCE Industrial Staffing Solutions.
Collaboration as a Process – Supply chain stakeholders have been engaged in a Council-led process designed to harness the energy that can exist in a collaborative environment. The first of three sessions, held on May 31st, outlined a process designed to establish trust and credibility. Representative directors and the Executive Directors from most Pillar Associations, as well as representatives of other SC-related associations, were in attendance. Ask your association about the process! Are you a true collaborator?
Utilization of Council Products and Services – How can your firm save time and money by using National Occupational Standards? Can the National Accreditation Program help you ensure that you are accessing education and training programs that meet industry standards, and what is the return on investment? Can I hire someone first, and then apply for the Council’s Career Focus wage-subsidy program to get the $12,750 maximum? For details, call our office or contact Outreach Coordinator Lorraine Chambers, at [email protected].
What We Need From You Focus groups will be held in the fall to review 13 new occupational standards. The sessions will take place in Toronto, and at locations across Canada via facilitated WebEx. See www.supplychaincanada.org/en/occupational-standards-II for details, and watch for dates of sessions near you.
