Fall Fundraiser Dear Parent,
At the end of this week, we will be sending home to you information about our fall fundraiser. Please don't confuse this with the information we sent last week regarding the ongoing fundraiser through www.schoolstore.com. The www.schoolstore.com fundraiser is geared for those individuals who will do online shopping throughout the school year. Just keep that information handy so that our school receives a percentage back of anything you purchase when logging on to shop through www.schoolstore.com. Be sure to use our school code: 307579.
Our fall fundraiser will provide a couple of different options. Offered for sale will be jar candles from "Celebrating Home" (previously Home Interiors) and Regional Discount Cards with discounts from a wide range of local businesses and restaurants. Several cities within our region are included. Both items are priced at $10 each.
Each fundraising packet will contain three discount cards, along with the candle brochure. Additional discount cards are available in the school office. Any discount cards not sold should be returned at the conclusion of the fundraiser or no later than September 16, 2013. We are asking that each family sell at least 10 items. These ten can be all of one item or a combination of items. Money should be collected at the time of the sale, and gift cards can be immediately given to the purchaser. Candles will be ordered and delivered shortly after the September 16, 2013, order deadline. Please keep the holidays and gift giving occasions in mind as you place your orders. Fall Fundraiser Start Date: August 29 Fall Fundraiser End Date: September 16 Please Note: our goal is for each family (not each student) to sell a total of 10 items Your fundraising packet will include additional incentives. Please look for it to come home with your student on Thursday. Your student will earn a great incentive just for sending back your commitment form on Tuesday (September 3, 2013) when we return to school. For middle and high school students- The incentive for returning your commitment form will be a free jeans day on Wednesday September 4, 2013. For elementary students- the incentive for returning your commitment form will be a free slushie at lunch on Wednesday September 4, 2013. Questions? Contact Debbie Lewis at (270)527-8377 ext. 120.

Sports
CFS Athletics Looking for Partners As the school is growing, so is the sports program. Therefore, we are looking for individuals who will partner with the athletic department in making CFS athletics better than what it is today. This would be a great opportunity for parents and grandparents to back the athletic department by becoming a sponsor. You can find the athletic sponsorship form on the school website for you to print, fill out, and return to the athletics department. There are three levels of sponsorship – Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Please pray about what you can do in supporting this valuable program in our school. If there are any questions, please contact the Athletic Director, Debbie Lewis at (270)527-3877, ext. 120 or by email at [email protected].

Statement of Faith The following truths are held in common agreement by the administration and staff of Christian Fellowship Church:
1. We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God; a revelation from God to men; the rule
of faith and conduct; superior but not contrary to conscience and reason.
2. We believe that there is one God, eternally co-existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. We believe in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His
vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand
of the Father, and in His future personal return in power and glory.
4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly
life.
6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life and
those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Philosophy of Christian Education
Christian Fellowship School exists to assist parents in fulfilling their divine responsibilities to give their children a
quality, Christ-centered education (Prov. 22:6; Eph. 6:4). As a distinctly Christian institution of learning, Christian
Fellowship School approaches education from a theistic rather than a humanistic standpoint. In a day of vacillation
and conflict between opposing values and ideals, we unreservedly acknowledge the ultimate authority of God as He
reveals Himself through the inerrant Holy Scriptures (Heb. 1:1-2) and the coordinate work of the Holy Spirit in the
believer (1 Cor. 2:12-13). Our educational philosophy, therefore, is based on a God-centered view of truth and man
as presented in the Bible.
Since truth is absolute and has been revealed by God unto man through His Word (John 17:17), that truth, as revealed,
takes priority over man's reason. Christ is the source of all truth (John 14:6); therefore, truth cannot be fully learned
apart from the Word of God and Jesus Christ (Col. 1:17). Every subject, whether scientific, historical, mathematical,
literary, or artistic, must be taught from a Biblical perspective and with the consciousness that Jesus Christ is central
to all living and learning.
Since God created and sustains all things through His Son, Jesus Christ, the universe and all life are dynamically relat-
ed to God and have the purpose of glorifying Him (Rev. 4:11). This is especially true of man, who was made in the
image of God, different in kind from all other creation (Gen. 1:26), with the unique capacity to know and respond to
God personally and voluntarily. Because man is a sinner by nature and choice, however, he cannot, in this condition,
know or honor God in his life (Rom. 3:23). He can do so only by being born again through receiving Christ as Savior
and Lord (John 3:3; Rom. 10:9-10) and thus being enabled to do God's will, which is the ultimate purpose of life
(Heb. 13:20-21).
Since the answer to all contemporary problems of man can be found in and through Jesus Christ, the entire process of
education is viewed as a means used by the Holy Spirit to bring the student into fellowship with God, to develop a
Christian mind in the student, and to train him in godly living so that he can fulfill God's total purpose for his life
personally and vocationally (2 Pet. 1:20-21; 2 Tim. 3:16-17). Truth and character as revealed in the Bible are the
cornerstones for this process, Biblical principles becoming the basis by which all experience and convictions are
judged (1 John 3:4). The student must be developed as a whole person, spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially
(1 Thess. 5:23). He must be educated as an individual endowed by God with unique personality traits and abilities.
There must, therefore, be a positive and sustained correlation between the educational process and the student's
developmental progress (Luke 2:40, 52; 1 Cor. 13:11). There must be positive interaction between the student and his
teachers and parents who themselves are born-again and share this philosophy of life, thus providing the student with
sound role models he can look unto as a pattern (Luke 6:40).
The authority for such education comes both from God's command that children be taught to love God and place Him
first in their lives and from the fact that parents are ultimately responsible for the total education and training of their
children (Deut. 6:5-7). At the parents' request, the Christian school, along with the church, becomes a partner in
giving this education.

CFS Policy for Making up Inclement Weather Days The procedure for making up school days which are missed due to inclement weather (snow, ice, floods, etc.) is that school will be in session on the Friday immediately following the missed day of school. For example, if we have a snow day on Thursday, we will be in session on Friday. If the weather is still bad on Friday, then school will be cancelled by posting the information on News Channel 6, just as it would be for a regular school day. Occassionally, there will be exceptions to this policy. If that occurs, the make-up day will be posted in the newsletter.
School Closings due to Weather With winter weather in the forecast, and the possibility of school closings, and the postponing and rescheduling of school events, following are some ways for you to stay informed:
Snow Man 6 – as soon as a school closing is determined to be necessary, CFS will contact News Channel 6 for the posting of the closing.
News Channel 6 Website – www.wpsdlocal6.com Snow Man 6 school closings are posted on this website operated by News Channel 6.
You can get an immediate alert by e-mail or on your cell phone by creating an account at wpsdlocal6.com Local 6 Mobile Alert Center.
