Level 4 in S3

Pupils will continue to work at a level suitable to their progress from S2.

Most pupils will be working at Level 4. In most subjects, pupils will begin

preparatory work for their NQs in S4 during their second and third terms.

Progressing to the Senior Phase

At the end of S3, pupils will choose which subjects they will continue to study for their National Qualifications.

There will be a common choice sheet for S4-6 Pupils may choose from a mixture of new

National Qualifications (N3, N4, N5), Highers and Advanced Highers according to their ability and in discussion with staff.

To allow progression, subjects grouped together in S3 will continue into Senior Phase as appropriate.

Progression into S4: Most S4 pupils will choose to study subjects at

National 3, National 4, and National 5. All pupils will take English and Maths Pupils choose an additional 5 subjects

(continuing courses they have taken in S3). Pupils will also have 1 period each of Core PE

and Personal & Social Education.

Progression into S5/6 Most pupils in S5 choose subjects from the range of

National Qualifications and Highers offered, according to their ability.

In addition, pupils in S6 will be able to choose from a menu of Advanced Highers.
