HOMEWORK
Homework is an important part of your child’s routine because it allows them to establish a positive learning environment outside of the classroom.
When doing homework it is best that your child finds a quiet place where he or she can concentrate.
Please make sure your child has paper, pencils, a ruler, and crayons at home for use on homework.
Please monitor your child’s homework each evening.
All homework assignments are recorded in the agenda and a parent signature is requested upon completion of homework assignments DAILY.
AGENDAS
Agendas are required in 3rd grade and supplied by the school.
All homework assignments are written in the agendas daily.
Please help your child develop this important habit by signing and checking it AFTER checking the homework.
FRIDAY FOLDERS
Friday Folders go home every Friday
Please sign the sheet in the back and return on Monday morning
Suggestion: As you go through the folders, sit your child beside you. Let them see your delight and concern for what you see. Correct a few problems as necessary to show them that learning does not stop just because the paper is graded.
MAKE-UP WORK
When your student is absent, you must send me a note stating the reason in order for it to be excused and be given make-up work.
Due to math beginning at 7:55 and the increased rigor of instruction, please ensure that your child is at school before the 7:45 tardy bell each morning. Along with making sure your child is at school on time each morning, please refrain from early check-outs if at all possible because instructional time is maximized throughout the entire day.
GEORGIA MILESTONES ASSESSMENT
Replacement of the GCRCT
Administered in Spring 2017
Multiple Choice, open response, and extended response questions
Online administration
Writing Assessment included
Norm-referenced scoring
Retention Law
Early Intervention Program
EXPECTATIONS OF PARENTS
To help students arrive on time, prepared, and ready to learn
To be fair and honest with your child and me
To allow your child the room to challenge himself/herself without frustration
To contact me with concerns
To allow your child to make decisions and take responsibility for his/her decisions when possible
To return communication (folders, report cards, etc.) which require your signature promptly
To serve as a resource for your child so he/she may complete homework without major distractions
TRANSPORTATION HOME
Any changes in how your child will go home require a note from the official form posted on the LRE website.
If your child is bringing a friend home or going home with a friend, a note is required from BOTH parents!
Phone calls cannot be made during the day regarding transportation, so written documentation is essential.
If your child’s transportation varies from day to day, please write in your child’s agenda what the transportation will be for that day.
COMMUNICATION
Communication between parent and teacher is KEY.
I write notes in the agenda, staple notes in the agenda, I email, and when needed I make phones calls home.
We will meet to discuss your child once in the first semester and once in the second semester. If needed, we can schedule additional conferences.
The best way to reach me is via email: [email protected]
PTA
Our class would love to reach the 100% PTA participation goal!
If your family has not joined PTA, we are asking that you please join.
