Yala Islamic University is the higher education aiming at managing curriculum, conducting research, contributing for Islam and uphold the culture that in line with Islamic law. This institution endeavors to produce the qualified graduates who are knowledgeable, having faith, following the Qur’an and Sunah, having a foresight vision, and filed with moral ethics as an example in improving quality of life for oneself, family, and society, throughout the balanced, comprehensive, continuum, and Islamize education
Vision
• YIU is the higher education which
seeks to generate most qualified graduates with moral, ethic, and intellect excellence in all parts of Islam. It is a centre of education that obtains universal standard and leads to the peaceful world.
Mission
1) Produce graduates with a great morality, professional in academic, and leadership of peacefulness.2) Encourage for conducting research and exploring in order to establish knowledge that can be contributed and responded to the needs of society, nations, world and international relationship among countries. 3) Giving a variety educational service to society to create a learning environment that can be contributed and advisable according to the needs in provincial and national level. This leads to the improvement of life quality and continuum of environmental benefits. 4) Fostering culture and value of local intellectual which in line with Islamic teaching.5) Managing the administration to be effective and efficient in order to sustain the culture and organization as an Islamic model. 6) Create and upgrade the cooperation with the institution and organization
in other countries to expand the network in international level.

The needs of society
• No such an Islamic Institution in higher level (college or university)
• Students are suffering from secular system of education
• Majority of Thai people are VERY weak in English language.
• In general, Muslim education in Thailand are failed in Arabic language course.
Comprehensiveness of curriculum
Islamization of knowledge
• The curriculum development of YIU is firstly began by offering
courses in Islamic studies as the approach in managing Islamic
curriculum. The university has occupy the revealed knowledge as
the course requirements and elective subjects.
• YIU has given chances for student to freely choose their minors.
This helps in integrate curriculum between Islamic studies and
acquired knowledge as well as perfecting the personality of
individuals. It is allied with the comments of Ahmad al-Beely
“ Student who are in general studies should learn about religious knowledge
for their basic in belief, ibadah and akhlaq as well as the requirement for Arabic
language for their primary sources. Whereas students who are in religious
studies must not only be able to memorize al-qur’an and hadith and good in
Arabic language, but also learn in general knowledge and at least one of
foreign language in their dawah and defending Islam from misunderstanding.”

• Add subject History and civilization of Islam in the course requirement
• Conducting trianing and seminar on Islamization of knowledge to all lecturers
• Curriculum development • Preparing textbook and learning material• There should be a demonstration school• Needs for Research and evaluation• Cooperation with the community
