RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
University of Waterloo
School of Optometry
Continuation of studies of non-ionising electromagnetic radiation effects on ocular tissues, including action spectra and mechanisms. The effect of ambient and experimentally produced ultraviolet on visual function. Millimetre band effect on the eye, with J.R. Trevithick, at Walter Reed Army Medical Research Institute, Washington, D.C. Evaluation of the effect of contact lenses on optical radiation damage thresholds and the effect of diverse environmental conditions on contact lens wear. Environmental and industrial eye hazards and ocular protection. Health effects of ozone depletion and climatic change.
University of Houston
College of Optometry
Major research effort in ocular hazards of optical electromagnetic radiation with D.G. Pitts; minor activities included angiographic studies of induced changes in feline
intraocular circulation; and ocular effects of topical/systemic 9 – THC. From 1971 to
1976 summer months were spent in the Ocular Anatomy Laboratory, The City University, London, developing skills in ocular histopathology and ultrastructure with G.L. Ruskell.
University of Saskatchewan
