At the beginning of the week, teams were given a packet that included selected writings by Martin Luther King Jr as well as articles by other scholars concerning racial, sexual, age-related and economic discrimination. Throughout the week, each team met privately with an instructor to whom they could direct questions or concerns. On the first day, for example, an instructor helped teams identify the nature of the problem. On the second, an instructor guided teams in research methods to be used for the problem identified.
