Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan Mini Research Project
In order to appreciate the culture in The Joy Luck Club, you must first gain a better understanding of the Chinese culture. You will work on researching a specific topic that is important to the Chinese culture.
You may work in pairs or your groups for this project; however, each person must write their OWN paper.
You will need to complete your research, type a 750-1000 word explanatory essay describing your topic, and create a presentation that will help the class learn about your topic in approximately 5 minutes.
This project (both written and oral) is due on _______
Requirements:
Written: 750-1000 words TYPED in MLA format (double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman
font, etc.) Works Cited page (Google Docs will help you do this)
Presentation; Shows knowledge of the topic(s) Evidence of effort Visual Component (NOT A POSTER, not a Google Slide presentation, and not a
PowerPoint)o Try and use an online tool that you haven’t used before
Clear Voice/Audio Interesting (WOW factor) Stimulate Discussion

You have a district provided Google Drive Account that you can use for this.
Screencast-o-matic – (www.screencast-o-matic.com)
I am not looking for uninteresting presentations. Take time to think about how you will engage the class with your newly obtained knowledge. You will not be allowed to use your paper during your presentation (but I will allow a note card). I am expecting you teach the class something about your project. Do not feel as though you need to cover everything written in your paper; just talk about the interesting parts.
This will go into your writing grade.
