To all those who have sustained losses from Super Storm Sandy and those grieving over the loss of a loved one as a result of the Connecticut School Massacre my thoughts and prayers are with you and I extend my sincerest condolences. Often times we enter the New Year with crazy resolutions to improve our fitness, but we fail to create a specific plan outlining how we will achieve that goal. As the old saying goes “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail” and in doing so you don’t achieve your desired results. To achieve your fitness goals make simple daily goals and track them. This is a great way to see exactly what you are accomplishing and identify areas that require improvement. What most people want to know is how to balance nutrition and exercise. Listed below are some tried and true meal plans that have worked for me and some of my clients. Breakfast:Option 1: Oatmeal no added sugarsBut you use a sweeter substitute with fresh fruits and nuts Option 2: 2 or 3 eggs whites in an omeletwith vegetable (green pepper, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms)diced turkey or ham1 tbsp. of cheese Option 3: 1 bowl of whole grain cereal with low fat milkadd fresh fruit(Some suggestions: Special-K, Cheerios, and Kashi) Lunch:Option 1: Soups, avoid soups with added cream(Some suggestions: Vegetable, Chicken, French Onion)

Bake chicken½ cup of yellow rice1 cup of cabbage Option 3: 6 oz. Broiled steak1 corn on the cobSide salad Snacks:Low fat yogurtsGreen applesPearsSmall pack of nuts Once you have clear goals and a specific plan you have created a road map to achieving your fitness goals. When you exercise at the gym or your workout area, please make sure you put forth 100% effort by maximizing every opportunity to increase your heart rate. Also remember to stay hydrated drink and drink six to eight glasses of water a day. To maintain your motivation and keep your eye on the prize get a picture of what you want your body to look like and post it where you can see it daily. This will help you target your exercise routine to the body parts that require additional attention. To build muscle lifts weights and do cardio. Lifting weights increases your muscle mass and cardio will burn layer of fat that is covering the muscles. It’s a New Year so it’s a good time to get a physical before you keep your promise of physical fitness to yourself and to ensure that your body is up to the challenge. Be sure to notify your coach or trainer if there are any medical conditions that may require a modified work out. Wishing you and yours a safe and joyous New Year and remember that “Being fit is always in fashion”.

Curvz Mag: How long have you been modeling?

Michele: Little over a year

Curvz Mag: What inspired you to become a model and how did you get your start?

Michele: Yes. Cover of Full Blossom Magazine Jan 2012, Cover of Goddess Magazine Aug 2012, Cov-er of Rack Plus Magazine Aug 2012, Featured in Shakesspearedark Magazine Dec 2012. Curvz Mag: What are some of your interests out-side of modeling? Michele: Acting, sports, working out, traveling.

Curvz Mag: Who are some of your favorite plus size models?

Michele: Tara Lynn is gorgeous but Emme is my favorite by far. She was the first PLUS size model I remember seeing on TV growing up. She’s beau-tiful, smart, put together and a role model for all women not just plus size models.

Curvz Mag: What was your most memorable mod-eling moment?

Michele: FAME Rocks Fashion Week Show. I walked in that show during NYC Fashion Week in Feb for The Cotrice Collection. The show was huge, and we were the only plus models in a straight size show and we got lots of LOVE and respect.

Michele: Invest in photos, network, be aggressive, persistent, realistic and most of all be professional.

Curvz Mag: What was the best piece of advice you’ve was given as a model?

Michele: Thank you to my family and friends for supporting me and to the designers/photographers/agents who believe in me and who have given me opportunities this past year.

Get Your Style On!

Now that winter has arrived it’s time to stay warm and totally look likes a Diva while doing it. Ladies, I know many of you enjoy the cooler months.

If you are like me, I will take cooler months over scorching hot months. Dressing for the winter can be so much fun just remember because you need the added warmth don’t assume you can’t wear lighter weight clothes in the cooler months.

Wearing your summer clothes can be very versa-tile for the winter and it helps save money when shopping on a budget. Personally, I shop and buy clothes that can be mixed and matched through-out the seasons. A good example would be taking a mini/pencil skirt and pair it with color tights or a short-sleeve shirt or dress can be paired with blazers and cardigans. I will admit cooler months are my favorite you can really bring out the Fash-ionista within you by layering and adding acces-sories to your outfit which I will explain how it can be done.

The key to having style in cooler months is layer-ing. Please Divas, remember to be careful when layering because you don’t want to add bulk to your outfit. Wearing every article of clothing in your closet is not the correct way to layer. When

layering people tend to add layers on top what I mean is putting a heavy sweater over a blouse. The look you are going for is the blouse, not the sweater. I would suggest layer a cami underneath the blouse to get an added layer of warmth with-out the bulk. When layering bottoms and you don’t want to wear thick slacks try wearing a pair of tights or do what I like to do is wear pantyhose. Just make sure the tights are of thin material. You can also wear tights under your jeans, but make sure your jeans are not tight because the tights will show underneath. To complete the outfit you can wear cute heels, booties, or boots which can be worn to add extra warmth on your legs. You will be surprised how the correct way to layer can make you warm and look stylish.

Divas, just remember the trick is to layer your out-fit in a way that will allow you to remove a layer or maybe two when indoors and still have something fabulous underneath. Hope my tips will keep you extra warm!

Ravens Nest

HELLO EVERYONE HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW. I PRAY THISYEAR BRING YOU ALL YOU WANT AND MORE. MAY YOUR LIFE BE FULLED WITH HAPPINESS AND JOY. PLAYOFF TIME!!

Yes you know what time it is, its playoffs time so let’s see what teams made it from the AFC you have.. BAL, IND, DEN, NE, CIN, HOU and from the NFC you have MIN, GB, SEA, WAS, SF, ATL these team played hard and strong all year. So let’s see who will make it to the big dance called the Super Bowl.

Last year’s Super Bowl champs won’t be making a run for it , Eli was unable to carry his team to the playoffs battle field this year so they will be sitting back to see who will be taking the crown from them. Now unlike Eli his brother Peyton not only march his soldiers on the field they left heads rolling and now Peyton is on his way to the playoffs after some folks had written him off. Shows how they knew. Well Raven I am wishing all the teams good luck and I must say I am happy my team has made it to the playoffs yet again.

Now just like those teams played hard to get where they are now, some teams one I can think of right off the top of my head is the Jets. What the heck was the deal with them this year Rex needs to speak with me because I really don’t understand why you would not use a QB you paid good money for when your starter QB isn’t doing so well so you skip over Tebow to used your third steam QB, WHY? Is all I want to know. So you go from being this could be big threat as a team to a 3 ring carnival you have in house fighting the coach not facing reality, and poor Tebow wondering what the hell is really going on. To me when things start happening like this it’s time to do some house cleaning , when better to start then now it’s not like you have anything else to do you’re not going to the playoffs so it’s time to layoff. Better yet fired some folks and the JETS started to do just that starting with their

GM but it looks like for right now Rex feet loving butt still has a job with the JETS one question WHY?

YOUR SERVICES IS NO LONGER NEEDED, YOU’RE OUT OF HERE!!!

Here is a so long list of coaches and general managers who must pack up their bags and family and look for a new home. One things for sure there is too much money in football to have a team perform poorly and not look at the head as the problem, at some point the coach need to step up and pull his guys together and make changes for the better so if you can’t do that then I guess you will find your name on the list like these guys here we go... (BLACK MONDAY)

Kansas City Chiefs Head coach Romeo Crennel Chicago Bears Head coach Lovie SmithPhiladelphia Eagles Head coach Andy Reid New York Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum Cleveland Browns General Manager Tom Heckert and head coach Pat ShurmurBuffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey Jacksonville Jaguars General Manager Gene Smith

Well I’m sure some of these guys will find love and a home someplace else with no problems as for other we shall see.

There had been a lot of tragedy in the NFL world this last year, so I would like to remember all involved and pray for the strength and peace of their family. May this year bring us less tears and more peace and happiness in God I pray amen. Just remember to take time to think before you act cause once you take the next step there is no turning back and learn to use good judgement and if you see your friend not doing so step up and make it for them I am sure they will thank you for it later. I’m sure Josh Brent wishes someone had step up for him that night. Just a lil something to think about. Luv always Raven.....

There is a surge of people dat-ing plus size men and women and although I am glad that individuals are starting to

accept love regardless of size in many cases many are being mislead. Quite a few people make the big mistake of putting their all into a new relationship or situation before the “cupcake phase” is over and before you recognize it you are more invested in them and they do not feel the same way about you.Did you know that most relationships that start during October 1-February 10th are normally season relationships? If you are not familiar, let me tell you! It is when a man or woman only dates you during the down seasons or where the sex isn’t readily available like it is in the spring and summer months. And, when it gets close to Valentine’s Day or the end of tax return season they find a way to break up with you or start tripping real hard. Now, some of you

Winter Love…Is it real or seasonal sex?

24 Curvz January/2013

might be reading this and saying I would never let this happen to me but let me tell you…it happens to everyone at least once in your life and many times you don’t no-tice it until the relationship is nothing but a distance memory! When you come into a new relationship it is worth the effort to do what it takes to make it work. Do you want to be known or attract the kind of person that will only be with you during the winter months? Take the time to make sound decisions and not speak out of lust but with a clear head and an open mind.

A new year…a new beginning… You’ve been warned! Don’t get cuffed!
