ENVIRONMENTAL WORK NOTES:

1.1 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REFERENCE THE PART B ENVIRONMENTALDOCUMENTS FOR THE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF ASBESTOS-CONTAINING ROOFING MATERIAL.

CONTRACTOR AIRMONITORING ACTIVITIES AND EMPLOYEE PROTECTION AND MONITORING ISPART OF THIS CONTRACT. NO ADDITIONAL PAYMENT WILL BE MADE FORDEMOLITION OR RENOVATION WORK THAT DISTURBS LEAD-BASED PAINTEDSURFACES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH THE OSHA LEADCONSTRUCTION STANDARD 29 CFR 1926.62. CRUSHING OR BREAKING BULBS IS STRICTLYPROHIBITED. THE TRANSPORTER AND RECYCLING FACILITY SHALL BEAPPROVED BY THE COTR PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK.

1.4 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VISUALLY INSPECTING ALLLIGHT BALLASTS FOR THE PRESENCE OF PCBs. THE BALLASTS AREASSUMED TO CONTAIN PCBs UNLESS THEY ARE LABELED "NO PCBs". ALLPCB-CONTAINING LIGHT BALLASTS SHALL BE STORED AND LABELED INACCORDANCE WITH 40 CFR 761. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BERESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVING, STORING, AND RECYCLING THE PCB-CONTAINING LIGHT BALLASTS. THE TRANSPORTER AND RECYCLINGFACILITY SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE COTR PRIOR TO THE START OFWORK.

1.5 ALL SCRAP METAL/STEEL COATED WITH LEAD-BASED PAINT SHALL BERECYCLED AT A FACILITY CAPABLE OF ACCEPTING THIS MATERIAL. THECONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM THE RECYCLING FACILITYPRIOR TO STARTING ANY DEMOLITION ACTIVITIES. THE PROPOSEDRECYCLING FACILITY AND APPROVAL LETTER SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THECOTR FOR APPROVAL.

CONTRACTOR ACCESS, HAUL ROUTE AND STAGING NOTES:

4.1 THE CONTRACTOR STAGING AREA IS AVAILABLE AS SHOWNON THE DRAWING.

4.2 GATE 118 SHALL BE THE ACCESS POINT FOR ALL AOACONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC. ACCESS VIA OTHER AOA GATESIS PROHIBITED, UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THECONTRACTING OFFICER’S TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE.(COTR).

4.3 THE CONTRACTOR’S EMPLOYEES SHALL PARK IN THEDESIGNATED PARKING CONTRACTOR’S STAGING AREAS.PERSONAL VEHICLES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE AOA.

4.4 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDEEMPLOYEE TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN THE WORK SITEAND STAGING AREAS IF NECESSARY.

4.5 ALL CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC SHALL TRAVEL ON THE ROUTESINDICATED ON THIS DRAWING OR AS APPROVED BY THEAIRPORT OPERATIONS.

4.6 AIRPORT EMERGENCY VEHICLES MUST HAVEUNRESTRICTED USE OF THE EXISTING ON-SITE HAULROUTES AT ALL TIMES; THE CONTRACTOR USE OF THEONSITE HAUL ROUTE SHALL BE SUCH THAT THE EMERGENCYRESPONSE VEHICLES CAN OPERATE ON THESE ROADSWITHOUT DELAYS TO THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TIME.

4.7 THERE SHALL BE NO ACCESS TO ACTIVE AIRFIELDPAVEMENT. CONTRACTOR SHALL STAY WITHIN THECONSTRUCTION WORK AREAS.

4.8 UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, ALL CONTRACTOR EQUIPMENTMUST BE TAKEN BACK TO THE STAGING AREA UPON THECOMPLETION OF WORK EACH DAY.

4.9 CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURING THEIREQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, AND VEHICLES.

SAFETY NOTES:

3.1 FOR PURPOSES OF THIS PROJECT, THE AIR OPERATIONS AREA (AOA) SHALL BEALL AIRPORT PROPERTY ACCESSED VIA GATES 118 AND INSIDE THE CARGOBUILDING LANDSIDE WALL.

3.2 EACH PERSON ENTERING THE AOA OF THE AIRPORT IS REQUIRED TO CARRY ANAIRPORT IDENTIFICATION BADGE ISSUED BY THE AUTHORITY AUTHORIZING ACCESSTO THE AOA, OR TO BE ESCORTED AT ALL TIMES BY A PERSON CARRYING ANAUTHORITY-ISSUED ESCORT BADGE.

3.3 VEHICLES AND PERSONS ENTERING THE AOA ARE SUBJECT TO SEARCH ANDINSPECTION PRIOR TO ENTERING. CONTRACTORS ARE EXPECTED TO FAMILIARIZETHEMSELVES WITH AND COMPLY WITH THESE PROCEDURES.

3.4 VEHICLES ENTERING THE SIDA MUST DISPLAY ALL NECESSARY IDENTIFICATIONMATERIALS OUTLINED IN THE AUTHORITY’S ORDERS AND INSTRUCTIONS. NO. 3- 2-2AAND AN AUTHORITY-ISSUED STICKER AUTHORIZING THE VEHICLE FOR USE WITHIN THESIDA. ONLY PERSONS HOLDING VALID SIDA DRIVER’S PERMITS MAY DRIVEUNESCORTED WITHIN THE SIDA. UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLES MAY ENTER ONLY UNDERESCORT FROM AUTHORIZED VEHICLES.

3.5 FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE RULES IS GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE REMOVALFROM THE AIRPORT AND FURTHER DISCIPLINARY ACTION.

3.6 AIRPORT BULLETIN IAD 4/8.1 REQUIRES ALL VEHICLE DELIVERIES TO BECOORDINATED IN ADVANCE WITH THE COTR, SO THAT THE GATE GUARDS MAY BENOTIFIED. VEHICLE OPERATORS MUST HAVE IN THEIR POSSESSION A COMMERCIALMANIFEST IDENTIFYING THE CONTENTS OF THE VEHICLE AND/OR TRAILER WHENARRIVING AT THE AOA GATE.

3.7 REQUESTS FOR EXCEPTIONS TO THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THISDOCUMENT SHALL BE COORDINATED IN ADVANCE THROUGH THE COTR.

3.8 SEE SPECIFICATIONS FOR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES:

2.1 THIS PROJECT SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS.THE PROJECT IS SUBJECT TO INSPECTION BY REPRESENTATIVES OF THE METROPOLITANWASHINGTON AIRPORTS AUTHORITY (THE AUTHORITY) REPRESENTATIVES OF THE VIRGINIADEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY, AND THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT ON CONSERVATIONAND RECREATION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO THE SITE FORINSPECTION PURPOSES DURING THE ENTIRE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD.

2.2 CONTRACTOR ACCESS TO THE WORK SITE SHALL BE AS SHOWN ON SHEET GN01.0001 UNLESSOTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE COTR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AT ALL TIMES ENSURE AGAINSTUNAUTHORIZED ENTRY OR ACCESS TO THE SECURE AREAS OF THE AIRFIELD

2.3 ALL CONTRACTOR SUBCONTRACTOR PERSONNEL, VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT, AND OTHER MATERIALSSHALL REMAIN WITHIN THE LIMITS OF CONSTRUCTION AND WITHIN THE SITE ACCESS AND HAULROUTES DESIGNATED ON THE PLANS.

2.4 ALL MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT, WHEN NOT IN USE, SHALL BE RESTORED OR PARKED IN THECONTRACTOR STAGING AREAS, AND SHALL NOT INTERFERE WITH AIRPORTS OPERATIONS. STAGINGAREA LOCATION IS SHOWN ON SHEET GN02.0001.

2.5 IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR’S RESPONSIBILITY TO COORDINATE OFFAIRPORT HAUL ROUTESWITH THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES. ON-AIRPORT HAULING SHALL NOT INTERFERE WITH AIRPORTOPERATIONS.

2.6 CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY LOCATION OF THE EXISTING UTILITIES PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OFWORK. IF ANY OF THE EXISTING UTILITIES CONFLICT WITH THE PROPOSED WORK SHOWN ON THEDRAWINGS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE COTR IMMEDIATELY TO EXPEDITE RESOLUTION.

2.7 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE ALL AREAS DISTURBED DURING THE PROJECT TO ORIGINALCONDITION. THESE AREAS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE STAGING AREA, WORK AREAS,AND ANY ACCESS ROADS.

2.8 ALL WORK, MOVEMENT, AND PARKING OF EQUIPMENT SHALL, IN ADDITION TO THE REQUIREMENTSOF THESE SPECIFICATIONS AND ORDERS OF THE CONTRACTING OFFICER, BE IN ACCORDANCE WITHTHE REQUIREMENTS OF THE METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON AIRPORTS AUTHORITY CONSTRUCTIONSAFETYMANUAL.

2.9 PROJECT LIMITS ARE LOCATED PARTIALLY WITHIN THE AIR OPERATION AREA (AOA). POSSESSIONAND DISPLAY OF PROPER AND CURRENT AIRPORT IDENTIFICATION BADGE IS REQUIRED FOR ALLCONTRACTOR PERSONAL ENTERING THE AOA OR ON THE LANDSIDE CANOPY. REFER TO SECTION007300 FOR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS.

3.4 INSTALL TEMPORARY PROTECTION MEASURES APPROPRIATE FOR TYPE OF WORK BEINGPERFORMED.

3.5 PROVIDE TEMPORARY SIGNAGE, CAUTION TAPE, CONE, ETC. TO ALERT AND SAFEGUARD DRIVERS,BUILDING USERS AND THE PUBLIC AT ACTIVE WORK AREAS.

3.6 PERFORM DEMOLITION WORK AT ACTIVE DOORWAYS ONLY ONCE TEMPORARY PROTECTIONMEASURES ARE IN PLACE.
