utorial: Creating Custom Items/Armor/Weapons/Etc for NWN

ey there, NWN Fans. Kitsune1982 here, with another new tutorial.

his time, this one is for creating custom items and making them

ork in NWN. The only tool you will need for this is the toolset

ow, without further Adieu, let’s get crackin’.

CUSTOM WEAPONS TUTORIAL>

Alright, here we go. Fire up the toolset and go to wizards,

hen Item wizard. In this tutorial we will cover making 3 things:

Magical Greatsword, a plate of custom armor and a magickal

irst, the broadsword:

Open up the Toolset.

Go to the Wizards dropdown and choose “Item Wizard” like so:



Choose Greatsword and click Next.

Type in a name like “Sword Of The Holy Avenger” and check theMagical” checkbox, then give it an item level of 1-5 and a

uality of Medium, then hit Next. This screenshot shows what to

Place the new item under the “Weapons” category, then navigate

o the “Bladed” sub-category, then place it in the category

arked “Greatswords” like so:



Click Next. Now, check the “Launch Item Properties” box and

lick Finish like so:



Now click on ‘General’ and put in any charges, additional

ost, If its stolen and/or a plot item, change the item name and

ag if you wish, then click The appearance tab. Now you should

In the dropdown box, under Model, choose the appearance you

ish for the sword to take on, first in Top, then Middle, then

ottom. ***Note: If you want a sword like the one in the picture,

Pick a color starting at the Top, then Middle, then Bottom.

hen you’re done with that, click on the “Properties” tab. You

hould come to a screen like this:



I don’t go into all the details about every single property,

o if you have internet and want to know what each one does, do a

oogle search for a description of all of the available

odifications for the item in question, I.E, “NeverWinterNightstem Properties Description” or some such. Now click

0) Now give it a description and if you want to add any

omments, click the “Comments” tab. Otherwise, click OK. Now you

ave a new greatsword to play with! Later on in the tutorial I

ill cover how to add it into the game.

*PART TWO: Making a set of platemail armor***

Open up the Toolset.

Go to the Wizards dropdown and choose “Item Wizard” like so:



This time, click on the item type “Armor” and click Next. You

Type in a name like “Scales Of The Dragon” and check theMagical” checkbox, then give it an item level of 1-5 and a

Place the new item under the “Armor” category, then navigate

o the “Heavy” sub-category, like so:



Click Next. Now, check the “Launch Item Properties” box and

lick Finish like so:



) Now, once again, give your item a new name and/or tag<if you

ant> any charges it has and/or additional costs, if it’s a plot

tem and/or stolen and so on. Then when you are satisfied, clickhe “Appearance” tab and you’ll come to this screen:

) Now, assuming you have CEP installed, when you click on the

elvis, you should have a long list of appearances to choose

rom. If not, you will only have the default appearance options

o choose from. Choose Male or Female(It doesn’t matter) and

lick Color. <This next step is optional>

) ***Optional Step*** You will now have a full palette of

olors to choose from. The armor will be modified like so:

3) Now click Properties and you’ll see a screen like this:

*PART THREE: MAKING A WAND***

) OK, Now on to the wand. Reopen the item wizard and select

Wand: Not Enchanted” like so:

9) Replace “Wand of Magic Missles” with whatever text you want,

nd set the Item Level <IL> and Item Quality <IQ> to whatever you

) Now open the ‘Weapons’ category then navigate to the ‘Mage-

pecific’ sub-category and then open one more node and place the
