roval aluminium
roval aluminium, which is part of the internationally operating
reynaers Group, is a leading specialist in aluminium construction
products that are used in residential and utility constructions, both in
new constructions and in renovations. The diversified range of products
includes architectural roof edges, high-quality wall coping systems,
weather cornices and weatherings, slatwalls and special custom-design
options. roval aluminium is the market leader in its area of expertise.
as an innovative partner, roval aluminium is always in search of
solutions with high practical and aesthetic value. This is usually carried
out working together with architects, project offices and customers.
We find solutions that translate into better and more elegant finishes.
roval aluminium has its own Design and Production departments, with
fully CnC-controlled machinery. as a result, roval aluminium is perfectly
equipped to offer custom-design products.
This is translated into a wide diversity of wall coping systems and fascia
boards. all products are available in brute, anodized and enamelled
finishes, in all available ral colours. roval aluminium is closely involved
in product development, work planning and project monitoring.
IFD, DUBO anD VIBa cOnstrUctIOn
roval aluminium endorses the basic premises and philosophy of IFD,
Dubo and vIBa construction, and has excellent solutions available for
all situations that could occur. For roval aluminium, IFD construction
means the innovative use of industrially developed and manufactured
construction components in new buildings, buildings that require
renovation and utility buildings.

Flexibility and the ability to dismantle parts of the structures make it
possible for different users to use the same building for a longer period.
Durability is one of the spearheads in roval aluminium’s management
policy. In IFD construction, for example, the amount of building and
demolition waste is substantially reduced. In this way, building according
to IFD principles combines both the environmental and economic
requirements in the construction sector. The philosophy behind
sustainable construction is that any damage to the environment is
limited as much as possible while building, using and demolishing
both new and existing buildings. In the meantime, a special review
committee has accepted roval aluminium as an SvE/viba Expo
participant. The SvE (previously known as the viba Expo Foundation)
was founded 25 years ago, and, in the meantime, has expanded into
a national knowledge platform in the area of healthy and sustainable
construction.
GUarantEED
roval aluminium guarantees the quality of its façade and roof products,
and supplies products that comply with the highest requirements. This is
reflected in the KoMo attestation with Product Certificate no. 10.078.
This quality declaration relates to the technical specifications, and refers
to performance relating to the relevant aspects that have been assessed,
such as durability and resistance to wear and tear, and lays down
regulations with regard to the manufacture and installation of the
products.
The KoMo attestation is recognized by the government, and is
applicable to aluminium products that have been treated via anodizing
(Qualanod) and powder coating (Qualicoat), with the treatment
constituting an integral part of the quality declaration. an independent
authority, such as SKG, carries out audits on the basis of regular
inspections to demonstrate that the manufactured products comply
with the Brl 2701 (national assessment Guideline) according to
art. 1.4 of the Buildings Decree.

‘zoeksnoek’ search engine and on the Internet (www.roval.nl).
anODIzInG
one of the main quality features of roval aluminium is the product
treatment, such as anodizing and enamelling. During the anodizing
process, an oxide layer is applied through electrolysis. This takes place
following the vMrG quality requirements and 2007 recommendations,
or the applicable Qualanod or GSB regulations, and is mainly applied
clear (natural). a limited number of colours is also possible. In this case,
the fact that that some colour differences could occur during the
aluminium anodizing process must be taken into account.
EnamEllInG
aluminium enamelling is carried out on the basis of powder coating.
This takes place according to the vMrG quality requirements and 2007
recommendations, or the applicable Qualicoat or GSB regulations.
The required enamel layer thickness depends on the conditions at the
location where the application will take place. 60 micron is used as
standard. Enamelling can be carried out in practically any colour.
ral colours are preferred however, due to the advantageous prices
and short delivery times. a wide range of enamelled roof edges can
be delivered from stock.
spEcIalIsts
one of the characteristic features of roval aluminium quality is a team
of enthusiastic and highly-qualified professionals. These are specialists
with a sound project management and technical know-how, on whom
our partners in the construction sectors can rely at all times. For our

Freedom of Design
InspIrInG rEsUlts
as the widespread use of aluminium in architecture is still a recent
development, many pleasant surprises can still be expected from the
seemingly unlimited possibilities offered by aluminium. Especially for the
architect, to whom aluminium provides a maximum of design freedom.
Shape, flexibility, colour, combinations with other materials, durability ...
all these are distinguishing features that often lead to inspiring results.
The design potential of aluminium is unprecedented.
UnlImItED pOssIBIlItIEs
The practical implementation of the concepts and designs created by the
architect is, of course, a great challenge. It is exactly in this context that
the use of aluminium has proved to be particularly popular over the last
few years as an aesthetic construction product.
UnlImItED pOssIBIlItIEs
This is, however, only possible with the backup of a partner who is able
to convert the vision of the architect into high-quality applications with
a high aesthetic value. In this respect, roval aluminium is a pioneer in
the area of aesthetic custom-design.
We think in terms of possibilities, not limitations. The architect’s vision is,
by definition, interesting. The most complex design challenges lead to a
maximum of creativity, and, as a result, to very special aesthetic solutions
and applications. This is therefore a two-way process. roval aluminium
is perfectly equipped to provide custom-design. The architect’s vision
becomes a roval aluminium product.
Thanks to our CnC-controlled machinery, we can design and produce
wall coping systems, fascia boards, column linings, reveal finishes and
other customized aluminium products entirely according to the
instructions of the architect. Furthermore, in the same way as the
architect provides inspiration for roval aluminium, the applications and
solutions created by roval aluminium are also often the source of new
architectural designs. Inspiration leading to more inspiration. In the end,
this results in custom-design products that exceed the standard.

natural Design
thE natUral appEarancE OF alUmInIUm
as a relatively new material, aluminium has now made its definitive
appearance in architectural design. Whereas aluminium was mainly used
as a practical material in the past, its use for aesthetic purposes has
become increasingly popular over the last few years. not only is the
material light, less sensitive to corrosion and completely recyclable, but
it is also increasingly used for its aesthetic qualities. as a matter of
course, modern architects have therefore adopted aluminium as a
‘top of mind’ material, which appears more and more often in their
design processes.
What makes aluminium so special is the fact that it has a natural
appearance, even though it is not a natural product – it is created from
natural products. a combination of matt and shiny finishes provides
depth and colour to a project; a reflection of nature. The possibilities
of creating nuances give a building a distinctive appearance.
natUral alUmInIUm
after oxygen and silicon, aluminium is the most abundant element on
Earth. about eight percent of the earth crust consists of bauxite, or
aluminium ore. In a time in which the environment and sustainability
require our constant attention, aluminium is therefore a natural choice,
quite apart from its aesthetic aspects and unlimited possibilities.
although the production of new aluminium is quite energy-intensive,
its recyclability and durability make it the pre-eminent product for now
and for the future.

Sustainability

phIlOsOphy
Sustainability comes in many shapes. This is certainly the case for
roval aluminium, who endorse the philosophy of IFD construction.
But sustainability also involves the durability of the aesthetic added-value
that aluminium provides to a project. as a corrosion-resistant material,
aluminium is extremely suitable for this purpose. In addition, due to
the fact that aluminium is 100% recyclable, it can be considered as
a sustainable material. roval aluminium also develops innovative
applications that enable the durability of materials and buildings to
be increased. a good example of this is the patented cleat system.
clEat systEm prOVIDInG DUraBIlIty
roval aluminium has developed a unique, patented cleat system for
the fixation of wall coping systems. The special stainless steel ‘click’
spring fitted into the system enables easy installation and dismantling.
The pre-mounted EPDM sealing tape prevents water from entering into
the system, and avoids streaks caused by dampness. Moreover, the tape
also forms an excellent buffer.
sErVIcE lIFE
In addition to the aesthetic aspect, wall coping systems applied as roof
edge finishes also ensure a longer service life for the complete roof.
The fixation cleat itself also ensures that the wall coping system is more
durable, and that the system is reusable. The fixation cleat keeps the
wall coping taut and smooth, thereby enhancing the appearance of
the building over the long term. roval aluminium offers a selection of
various models in all ral colours, the quality of which is assured by the
KoMo attestation with Product Certificate. The clever fixation cleat is
one of the reasons why roval aluminium wall coping systems are
particularly suitable for both residential and utility buildings.

architectural products and their applications. The possibilities offered
to architects are numerous, not only as a result of the wide range of
products, but also due to the custom-design options. The possibilities
of wall coping systems are limitless, especially where the architect is to
be given the maximum design freedom. In addition, the solid technical
basis behind the aluminium construction products of roval aluminium
is at a level that distinguishes them from other products. This booklet
provides an overview of all aluminium construction products; these
products are characterised by their quality, durability and aesthetic

Custom-design in aluminium
sUrpassInG thE stanDarD
Many areas in the construction sector require custom profiling.
Standard ranges do not always provide a suitable solution. In these
cases, the custom-design service of roval aluminium could provide the
answer. roval aluminium is able to comply with practically all design
requirements in this area. It goes without saying that processes such as
drilling, punching, welding and notching can be carried out on these

In addition to wall coping systems, our state-of-the-art Production
Department also models and manufactures reveal finishes, fascia boards
and other custom-design products completely according to the desired
specifications. Quality with a sustainable character also applies to these
products. The aesthetic features of aluminium are particularly reflected in
fascia boards, column linings, balusters and reveals. The application of
aluminium always ensures an elegant finish. Fascia boards are, in fact,
wall coping systems with an extended front. This front in particular
creates a specific, distinguishing appearance. roval aluminium is able to
deliver fascia boards, reveals, balusters and column lining in any specified
dimensions and in various shapes. an additional advantage of using
aluminium in this context is the fact that only minimum maintenance will
be required, in comparison to other types of materials such as wood.

roval aluminium wall coping systems are of a very high quality.
In addition to this, they ensure a particularly elegant finish. Functionality
and an elegant design truly go hand in hand. The possibilities with
regard to wall coping systems are practically limitless. They can be
applied in the area for which they were originally intended: the covering
and elegant finish of walls. In addition, however, wall coping systems are
increasingly used as roof edge finishing. on the one hand, wall coping
systems can give a building a modern and contemporary appearance,
while on the other hand they can also allow a step back in time by
creating a retro-look with crow-step gables.

Cleat system
hIGh aEsthEtIc qUalIty
a patented cleat system has been developed for the fixation of wall
coping systems. This is a unique system characterised by its easy
application and high aesthetic quality. The wall coping covers ensure a
high, aesthetic quality due to the smooth and taut result, thanks to the
innovative cleat system. The EPDM sealing tape prevents water from
entering the system, which has a positive impact on its durability.
as a result, the cleat system makes a positive contribution to the overall
appearance of the building.
Important components of a quality wall coping system are the draining
fixation cleats and an expansion connection. as standard, they are
designed with slotted holes for a correct fixation.
In combination with the stainless steel spring, the fixation cleat ensures
a maximum result in terms of aesthetics and speed of fitting. This cleat
is applied as standard to all types of wall coping systems with a rear side
of 50 mm.
The distance between the fixation cleats depends on the construction
height and profile width, but is limited to a maximum of 750 mm.
They must be fitted with stainless steel screws.
With regard to expansion, bear in mind that aluminium expands by
approx. 1 mm per metre length.
