Quality Gate Management @ RUAGMotivation:• SAP system changes have to be implemented in a controlled way• Sustained documentation of system changes• Transparent change process for SAP system changes
Starting Position:• No consistently, process oriented change management in the SAP systems• Two transport lines, «productive» changes and «project oriented» changes• Insufficient documentation of changes
Goal:• Controlled SAP Change Control Management with linkage to the transport management• Differentiation of the «productive» and «project oriented» changes• Transparent and sustainable change process• Risk minimization for the productive system

RUAG Defence – Experience and Outlook
Ensuring no carrying of transports from different phases into the system by Quality Gates
Minimization of transport risks by the comprehensive implementation of Change Control Management
The transportation of transport copies during the project was a huge support.
Quality Gate Management is not solving all transport problems but it offers an important assistance
Outlook:
Quality Gate Management will be increasingly used for SAP projects in the future. In additionthe use of QGM is tested for the coordination of development waves.
