LADWP accepted thefirst-ever U.S. GreenBuilding Council(USGBC) PacificRegion LeadershipAward forDecarbonization.
The John Ferraro Building also became the firstbuilding in California to achieve LEED Zero Energy,operating with net zero carbon emissions.

For the week, there were 20 main leaks and 400 service
interruptions.
LADWP WATER SAVING REBATES: HIGH EFFICIENCY TOILETS
LADWP helps residential and commercial customers reduce
their water use and save on their bills by providing rebates
on a variety of water-saving devices. From July through
August 2019, LADWP provided rebates for 2,761 high-
efficiency toilets The devices are expected to save about
11.1 million gallons of drinking water – enough to supply
water to an estimated 102 homes annually.

NEWS & NOTES ————— LADWP headquarters received the first-ever U.S.
USGBC Pacific Region Leadership Award at the recent
annual Greenbuilder conference in San Francisco.
Continuing implementation of extensive energy-efficient
upgrades that focus on low-carbon strategies at the JFB
Building, LADWP received this award and achieved
LEED Zero Energy certification, becoming the first
building in California to do so.
LADWP and the City of Bishop held a joint event on
Friday, October 4, 2019 to celebrate the South Main
Beautification Project which planted several trees and
installed new planters along portions of South Main
Street in Bishop, CA. The event was attended by local
business owners, several Bishop City Councilmembers
and Planning Commissioners, and LADWP staff.
LADWP supported the City of Bishop with $20,000 to
purchase trees, plant material and provide education on
sustainable landscaping to the community.
29 stakeholders participated in LADWP’s Owens Valley
tour from October 3-4, 2019, touring L.A. aqueduct
operations and facilities to learn about the city’s water
and power infrastructure firsthand.

Customer call wait times averaged 1 minute and 11 seconds
for the reporting period of September 23-29, 2019.

96.87% of customers experienced NO OUTAGES.
For the week, there were 157 outage incidents, affecting
46,916 customers, including:
27 full and partial circuit outages that affected
28,775 customers mostly in Westwood, Westlake,
Pico-union, Pacific Palisades, and Bel-Air.
18 transformer outages that affected 230 customers
mostly in Mid-Wilshire, Historic South-central,
Tujunga, Lake Balboa, and Beverly Grove.
CHARGE UP CRENSHAW! NEW EV FAST CHARGERS INSTALLED AT SERVICE CENTER
L.A. residents now have greater access to EV charging,
thanks to expanded weekend hours and the increased
number of fast chargers at the LADWP Crenshaw
Customer Service Center parking lot. Under the
expanded hours, the chargers are now available from
8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. New
installations included (4) 25kW DC Fast Chargers and
(16) Level-2 6.6kW chargers. Level-2 charging can
provide 10-20 miles of range per hour while the 25kW fast
charging offers between 20-30 miles of range every 20
minutes of charging. The EV chargers at the Crenshaw
facility are part of an overall larger effort to modernize
LADWP’s customer service centers and to install 10,000
publicly accessible charging stations by 2022 while
facilitating the adoption of 145,000 EVs in the city by
2022. L.A. residents and business owners can also take
advantage of LADWP’s “Charge Up LA!” EV Rebate
Programs for charging station and used EV rebates. For

HAIWEE POWER PLANT REPLACEMENT PROJECT
Named Project of the Year by Engineering News Record,
the 10,000 foot long Haiwee Power Plant penstock was
replaced with 9,420 feet of high-tech composite material
to improve reliability. The project received the Best
Project award for Southern California in the water/
environment category from Engineering News Report and
is a candidate for Project of the Year.
