In 2008, Worldwide Printing South Brisbane experienced an immense period of growth and engaged with Konica Minolta to find a business solution for its expanding production printing needs.

The Challenge

As the business expanded, it was relying heavily on its production devices to keep up with high customer demands and its previous devices were just not performing to the level required. As a result, Worldwide Printing South Brisbane’s Managing Director George Bacic began to explore the market for a more reliable and cost effective digital printing solution.

The Solution

After reviewing the Konica Minolta range, Bacic was extremely impressed by its levels of consistency and reliability. This led Worldwide Printing Brisbane to replace its entire printing fleet with a collection of reliable devices, which gave the business the scope it needed to move forward into the digital arena.

Over the course of six years, the business installed over 10 Konica Minolta production printers, to increase its digital print production capabilities.

The installation included Konica Minolta’s top of the range colour presses; the bizhub PRESS C8000 and C6500, two of its most reliable black and white devices; the bizhub PRESS 1200 and two bizhub PRO 920s, as well as a range of bizhub PRESS C353s for smaller commercial print jobs.

The variety of devices installed offer a number of clever, time saving features such as automated binding, which uses the production saddle stitch finisher with online trimming to produce booklets of up to 200 pages.

Worldwide Printing South Brisbane did not limit itself to hardware improvements only – a number of software solutions were also put in place including the Fiery Graphic Arts Package, Print Shop Mail and Direct Smile.

The Result

Since Worldwide Printing South Brisbane replaced the bulk of its production printers, it has come to expect a higher level of reliability and service.

The automation features provided by the Konica Minolta production equipment combined with its absolute reliability, has enabled staff to deliver on its commitment of providing a high level of personalised service.

During the Brisbane floods in 2011, Konica Minolta stepped in to salvage the print business from a possible extended period out of operation.

“Water was already lapping at the front door when Konica Minolta sent in their trucks and engineers to break down and transport the machinery.

They housed some of our printers in a dry warehouse while we opened on a smaller suite in another location until the primary location was back up and running. Without Konica Minolta’s help I don’t know how we would have survived that devastating and turbulent time,” added Bacic.

Worldwide Printing South Brisbane now has a wide range of quality digital production devices and is extremely happy with all of the solutions provided by Konica Minolta, “It was definitely a worthwhile investment,” concluded Bacic.
