With its very large cutting table andeasy to use controls, Axitom is idealor production environments. The spa-cious cutting chamber is equipped withtwo automatic cutting tables and themachine can cut up to 125 mm / 4.9"samples. The x-table is or serial cuttingo parallel sections, whereas the y-tableis used or cutting o extra deep work-pieces.

A powerul machine or a wide rangeo applications. Discotom-60/-65 suc-cessully combines the newest cuttingtechnologies with unprecedented ex-ibility and user riendliness. On theDiscotom-65, the spindle speed rangesrom 1000-3000 rpm and makes it pos-sible or customers dealing with manydierent materials to use one singlewheel. Cuts up to 105 mm / 4.1" .Discotom-6 has a very strong motorand high cutting capacity. Cuts up to80 mm / 3.1".

A desirable cut-o machine or the labo-ratories cutting a moderate number osamples. Quick clamping device allowsor easy fxation o very irregular shapeson the T-slot cutting table. Adjustablecutting handle to suit the operator andtable height. Cuts up to 90 mm / 3.5".

ExciCut

Fo faste cuttng o cuttng of hademateals thout heat damage(Axitom, Exotom-150)

- Easy and aster cutting o even thehardest materials.

- Excellent access or coolant in thecutting area.

- Reduced risk o damage to sample andmotor overheating.

ExciCut uses an oscillating movement othe cut-o wheel to reduce the contactarea between the cut-o wheel and theworkpiece. This enables cutting o work-pieces in very hard materials and invery large sizes. At the same time, it ispossible to use harder cut-o wheels,which have a longer lietime, thus reduc-ing costs. The ExciCut technology wasfrst developed by Struers more than adecade ago.

AxioCut

Two unique, pre-programmed cut tingmodes o cutting capacity: AxioCutSweep (only Exotom-150) or ast cut-ting and optimum wheel economy, andAxioCut Step or very ast cutting.

For the sectioning o larger workpieces,

Struers have devised two new cuttingmethods, available in the AxioCut mod-ule. By adding the module, the cut-omachine is given extra 150 mms ocutting capacity (depth).

MultiCut

The automatic x-table oers severalpossibilities. A total o 4 MultiCut modesare available on our Axitom machinesequipped with the automatic x-table.

Unique eatures

MultCut-1 is the standard cutting modewhere slices o equal thickness can beprogrammed. Additionally thethickness o the cut-o wheel issaved so no calculations are neces-sary. Simply enter the thickness and thenumber o slices and press Start.

MultCut-2 is the same as above, apartrom the possibility o program-

ming slices o dierent thickness.

MultCut-3. Instead o programming thethickness o a slice, a certain position isprogrammed. This is used or thecutting o manuactured itemsthat have to be examined in certain fxedpositions.

MultCut-4 is the most intuitive anduser-riendly MultiCut mode. Simplyclamp the workpiece on the

cutting table, use the joystick toposition the workpiece correctly andpress Enter to record the cutting posi-tion. Continue doing so or the otherpositions as well. Then simply pressStart and all cuts are carried out intheir correct succession.

Cutting o workpieces with unevencross section or composition, posesa great challenge to the operator. Therisk o damage to the workpiece or cut-o wheel is high. Bearing this in mind,

Struers has developed the OptiFeedprinciple, based on a preset maximumorce limit. As the contact area (betweenworkpiece and cut-o wheel) is gettinglarger, the orce increases to maintainthe eed speed. I the preset orce limitis reached, the eed speed is automati-cally reduced to avoid damage. Whenthe cut-o wheel has passed the centreo the workpiece, the contact area isgetting smaller again, and with it the

resulting orce. In turn, the eed speedis automatically increased to the presetmaximum.

Our experience shows that mainte-nance and cleaning are two o the mostdifcult issues or the users o ourequipment. We thereore have a built-inautomatic cleaning unction into ourcutting machines Axitom and Exotom-150. This pioneering cleaning unction is

called AxioWash (pat. pend.). Ater theautomatic cleaning is fnished the useronly has to clean the horizontal suracesinside the chamber and the machine isready or the ollowing day.

Three actors usually determine yourchoice o cut-o machine: the size andthe composition o the sample, as wellas the number o samples to be cut.The tables on this page will guide youtowards the right model.

I you are cutting mainly round work-pieces, fgure 1a will help you selecta suitable machine. Figure 1b lets you

choose the right machine based on theoverall dimensions o your workpiece.

I you are dealing with mainly hardenedmaterials, choose a machine with theunique ExciCut technology. ExciCut isspecifcally designed or cutting o hard-ened materials.

Particularly when cutting high volumes,automated cutting makes sense. Table2 oers an overview o which machines

are operated manually or automatic, aswell as the eatures available. Table 3shows technical data.

Advanced system or the supplyo cooling water

Struers Cooling System is a unique,modular system or the supply o cool-ing water on cut-o machines.

With the automatic band flter unit alldebris is automatically collected anddisposed o. The automatic band fltercan be equipped with additional sensors

to monitor ow, level and temperatureo the cooling water and also with amagnetic flter to collect all magneticparticles that are too fne to be collectedby the band flter. Even an UV flteror cleaning the water rom algae andbacteria is available. All these measuresextend the possible lietime o the cool-ing water.
