WHO WE ARE
RAMAIAH COLLEGE OF LAW
Ramaiah College of Law is an institution affiliated to the Karnataka State Law University
(Hubballi). The college has been imparting quality legal education since the year 1995.
The prestigious Ramaiah College of Law, which bears testimony to the sagacity and
visionary zeal of our beloved founder Dr. Sri M.S.Ramaiah was established in 1995 with
the approval of Bar Council of India. It added one more feather to the cap of Ramaiah
Group of Institutions. Ever since its inception, within a short spell of time, the college
has committed itself to the cause of quality legal education and has made fast strides
to carve a niche for itself in the field of legal education. The saga of its journey from
a humble beginning to become a hub of academic and intellectual activity, perching
itself on higher pedestals in realization of its beloved founder’s highly cherished goal
of imparting quality legal education is so illustrious that it has become a melting pot of
cultures attracting meritorious students from the length and breadth of the country. The
management, staff and students firmly believe in the idea that “achievement is a relative
perennial limitless process”, and look forward to a glorious future of the college with a
humble acknowledgment.
The edifice of a highly esteemed institution of learning lies in its academia which must
invariably consist men of high academic caliber. The management in its uncompromising
stand with the quality of teaching has placed the academic leadership of the college in
the hands of highly qualified and experienced faculty members. In effect, the college has
placed itself in a pivotal position by offering the nation a stream of competent and brilliant
professionals in the field of Law, which is evident from the fact that some of its graduates
have adorned very coveted positions in the Bar, Corporate Sector and Judiciary.

For more than two decades Ramaiah College of Law (RCL) has
been dedicated towards providing quality legal education. RCL
has come a meeting pot of legal education as students from
different parts of the country are exposed to innovative learning
techniques, legal aid programs, moot court competitions cultural
and other similar activities, which help in grooming their overall
personality. RCL takes special interest in the holistic development
of the students and exposes them to rigorous training programs,
bridge courses, personality development programs, workshops
and internships to nurture and encourage the students towards
focused learning. This helps the students to become effective
legal practitioners once they graduate from the College and
face the real world.Discipline is one of the most important tenets
of RCL and we take pride in saying that our students are well-
trained, refined and hardworking individuals and are a product of
well-structured educational regime.
This brochure provides a glimpse of our campus life and a brief

MESSAGE - Principal
Ramaiah College of Law (RCL) is a leading education benefactor
imparting legal education over more than two decades. Affiliated to
Karnataka State Law University (Hubballi), it offers a 5 Year B.A.LL.B.
course. RCL boasts of a blend of enterprising and dynamic young
and experienced faculty who provide an open platform for students
with continuous exposure to various facets of the legal profession,
inculcating a sense of legal, moral and social responsibility building
therefore an understanding of the universal nature of law for the welfare
of mankind. This premier institute located at Bengaluru which happens
to be a prime location for legal education aims at moulding its students
into sympathetic, empathetic and compassionate legal practitioners
for which a wide array of co-curricular and extracurricular activities are
arranged. The brochure contains elsewhere the details of the activities
that our students from all batches have been a part of at various points
of time along with a list of their significant achievements. The high
levels of participation and achievement reveal that the students bring
with them an urge for gaining knowledge with continuous exposure to
national and international moot courts, guest lectures, bridge courses,
internships, workshops and sporting activities showing a wide range of
capabilities and talents.
The current batch of final year students appearing for the placement
process of the college is a reflection of the overall levels of merit, ability,
talent, skill and discipline prevalent in the institution cutting across
all batches. They present themselves as perfect pictures of hardwork,
knowledge, skill, understanding and discipline. I am sure that they will

MESSAGE - Faculty Coordinators
We are pleased to introduce the outgoing batch of 2019 of Ramaiah College of Law, the third
batch of the Karnataka State Law University. The Batch of 2017 has a unique blend of young, bright
and hard-working students. They have excelled not only in academics but also in co-curricular
and extra-curricular activities through participation and receiving distinctions in several National
and International competitions. These include Moot Court Competitions, Parliamentary Debates,
Model United Nations, Essay Writing and Judgment Writing competitions. The students of the
current final year batch have been encouraged to acquire special training and skills required for
the legal profession through active participation in seminars, conferences, workshops and also
by getting involved in training programmes and bridge courses conducted in collaboration with
NLSIU, Bengaluru.
Many of them have also shown their literary skills and the ability to produce original research work
by publishing articles and research papers in reputed journals. Students of the current final year
batch have good knowledge and understanding of Company Law, Securities and Investment Law,
General Principles of Contract Law, Specific Contracts, Information Technology Law, Intellectual
Property Law, Labour Law, Competition Law, ADR, etc. Our students have received further
practical exposure through internships in some of the highly reputed law firms and companies
across the country including those based in Bengaluru.
We would like to make a special mention of the effort and hardwork put in by the student placement
co-ordinators of the 2014-2019 batch in ensuring the smooth conduct of the placement process
of our institution. Finally, we are sure that the students appearing for placements in this academic
session will be an asset to whichever organization they join and we wish them all the best in all
their future endeavours.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Library
Library is the heart of an institution. At
Ramaiah College of Law we have a well-
equipped library with state-of-the-art
facilities and over 10,000 books including
text books, reference books, periodicals,
journals, national and international law
reports. Students can avail borrowing
rights and photocopies of books. The
management has given top priority for
the development of library. It is our
policy to have a collection of valuable
books pertaining to contemporary legal
issues apart from subjects included in the
curriculum. Students also have access to
online legal databases.
Auditorium
The College has auditoriums to conduct seminars and guest lectures. RCL enriches the knowledge of
students by conducting Guest Lectures by inviting luminaries for the overall development of the students.
Guest Lectures are conducted from time to time to keep students updated with the contemporary
changes in the legal field. In addition to that students are exposed to talks by non legal experts as well
so as to help them develop a well-rounded personality.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Computer Laboratory
The College has a well-established computer laboratory with internet facility to enable students to enrich
their knowledge with modern technology and legal databases and to enhance their legal research skills.
Moot Court Hall
As we believe that mooting plays an important role in legal education, Ramaiah College of Law has
a spacious, well-furnished Moot Court Hall to conduct moot court competitions. The College has a
well-established moot court society in the name of “Federation of Mooters”. The College encourages
students to participate in National and International Moot Court Competitions which enables them to
hone their skills of advocacy. It is a matter of great pride for us that our students have brought laurels
to the College by winning various National and International Moot Court Competitions organized by
prestigious institutions.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Moot Court Competitions
The Moot Court Committee inculcates interest in mooting and enables the students to achieve the
skills required. This committee organizes the Intra- College Moot Competitions to select the teams
of students to be sent to various Moot Court Competitions. This committee also organizes the M. S.
Ramaiah Memorial National Moot Court competition.
Sports
The College shows equal amount of interest in sports along with academic activities. The College has a
well equipped sports complex with latest sports goods. The sports committee of the College conducts
sports meet every year. Our students are a part of KSLU teams and have represented the college in
various sports events organized by the prestigious institutions and have won many awards and prizes.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Legal Aid and Awareness Camps
The Legal Aid Clinic of RCL conducted various programmes with the object of providing legal aid and
awareness; and also to extend the legal services to the staff of GEF.
Legal Awareness Camp was conducted to create awareness about availing free legal services from
the appropriate authority and a pre-survey to assess the pending legal cases was conducted by the
students of RCL at Gangawara Village, Devanahalli Taluk on 6th May, 2018.
Debate Society
Debate society is a committee in the College where the students hone their debating skills with the able
guidance of the teachers and actively participate in debate competitions organized by various colleges
across the country.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Cultural Activities
The College organizes cultural events and fests. The College encourages and recognizes young and
aspiring talents to participate in various inter- collegiate fests to display and discover their talents
beyond the study of law.
Gender Neutrality
The committee consisting of students and faculty coordinators ensures that equality prevails amongst
the various genders. In this regard the committee conducts awareness programmes.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The College organizes a lot of community development programmes through NSS. The main objective
is to identify the needs and problems of the community and make the people participate in community
development activities, develop among them a sense of social and civic responsibility.

ADR SOCIETY
GUEST LECTURES
RCL believes in the principle of Swami Vivekananda, “The goal of mankind is Knowledge.” Keeping this
goal in mind RCL engages luminaries from both legal and non-legal field to broaden the understanding
of students from time to time. In pursuit of this, “Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer Commemorative nd Lecture
Series” was inaugurated on 22nd April, 2016 by Padma Shree. Prof. (Dr.) N. R. Madhava Menon, Hony.
Professor, IBA Chair on Continuing Legal Education, NLSIU, Bengaluru. Prof. (Dr.) V. Vijayakumar,
Professor of Law, NLSIU, Bengaluru was the Guest of Honor.
The College also conducts seminars/group discussions relating to cases on emerging areas of law. To
further improve the communication and presentation skills of students, the College requires all students
to give seminars on different topics in every subject as a part of their academic curriculum.
Ms. Ridhima Sinha, Mr. Hitesh Mundhra, Mr. Abhinay S., Mr. Abhilash and Mr. Akhil Yajaman of V Year
B.A.,LL.B. won the 3rd National ADR Competition, 2018 organized by School of Law, Christ (Deemed to
be University) from 8th to 10th February, 2018. The RCL team was declared as “Overall Champion” of the
competition and received cash prize of INR 23,000. Mr. Abhinay S. and Mr. Abhilash were the Winners
of the Client Counseling Competition. Ms. Ridhima Sinha was declared as the “Best Mediator”.Mr. Akhil
Yajaman and Mr. Hitesh Mundhra were the Runners-Up in the Client Attorney segment of the Mediation
Competition.

COLLABORATIONS AND MOUs
Ramaiah College of Law, Bengaluru has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
with The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Bengaluru for promoting and reinforcing cooperation,
facilitating mutual exchange of information and advocacy based know- how, to jointly
collaborate and undertake works in R&D projects, establish an Advanced Child Development
Research Centre, enable student internships, and exchange of experts, researchers and
professors. The general objective is to stimulate and facilitate the development of collaborative
and mutually beneficial programmes which serve to enhance the intellectual life and cultural
development for both parties, and to contribute towards increased cooperation in the social
sector, exclusively focused on Child Development.
Gokula Education Foundation (GEF) which runs RCL has entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, one
among the premier legal education centers in the country for an academic collaboration which
includes conduct of bridge courses, training programmes, and other academic activities.
Ramaiah College of Law and Surana & Surana International Attorney, Chennai has entered into
an MOU for conducting the International Essay Writing Competition & National Tort Law Moot
Court Competition.
RCL has collaborated with the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority to organise legal
aid and legal awareness camps both within and outside the college premises. Through this
collaboration, students of RCL have the opportunity to work on various research projects.
Both the organizations after mutual discussions are desirous of establishing cooperative
relations in furtherance of their shared objectives of evidence-based decision making to
promote law, public finance management and policy development. The MoU is for — Data
organization, collection, analysis, and interpretation for policy making and assessment; Joint
research activities based on the above data; Certificate programs and courses on public policy
and allied areas of law; Identify and mobilize funding opportunities and marshal all available
resources for joint activities which would lead to public good and mutually beneficial activities
to each of the institution; Exchange of information and data sharing; Undertaking research
projects from a policy research perspective; Exchange of visits of suitable personnel for
participation in agreed joint activities; and other forms of cooperation which may be mutually
agreed upon. The initial areas of collaboration identified are: Inter-state river water sharing,
Environmental issues, Public health & nutrition, Research methodology, Urban Development
and Planning, E-governance, Human Rights and any other areas, mutually agreed upon

RECRUITMENT POLICY AND PROCEDURE
• The recruitment process of RCL is handled by its Placement Committee consisting of two
faculty coordinators and a variable number of student coordinators from the final year of the 5
years integrated BALLB degree course.
• The placement process commences initially with the process of contacting organizations from
the month of June-July in each year.
• Simultaneously, the registration process for the interested candidates is held during July-August
of every consecutive year.
• Organizations generally begin arriving at the campus for recruitments from September of every
year.
• Students from the fourth year and fifth year are given periodic orientation about placements
and are required to undergo a rigorous training and grooming regime both individually and in
groups.
• The College provides internships and placement assessment internships to fourth and fifth
year students as per the discretion of the recruiters and availability of slots. This is due to the
fact that RCL realizes that the internship network leads to the placement network and good
placements is all about establishment of long term relations with recruiters.
• RCL follows a single offer rule and a student who gets the first final offer is considered to be
segregated from the placement process. Students who get offers are no longer allowed to sit
for the recruitment process of any other subsequent organizations.
• In case students get recruited by organizations within Bengaluru, RCL allows the recruitees
to join their respective offices in the ninth and tenth semester on a part-time basis after class
hours subject to confirmation and approval from the recruiter.
