    BIODATA OF SPEAKER

    Ir. Wong Shu Leong

    Ir. Wong Shu Leong is a Past President of the Association of Consulting Engineers,

    Malaysia (ACEM). Ir Wong graduated from University of Singapore and had worked in

    Singapore Public Utilities Board before joining Sepakat Setia Perunding Sdn Bhd in 1979. Hewas the Managing Director of SSP (E&M) Sdn Bhd, an Electrical & Mechanical engineering

    practice from 1991 to 2012 while remaining as a director from 2013. His company has been

    involved in many large projects in the country such as airports, ports, railway, water &

    sewage treatment plants, toll & traffic surveillance systems, industrial complexes, high end

    condominiums, township development, office towers, convention centres, hospitals, retail

    malls and universities/training centres.

    Ir Wong is a member of BEM Engineers Act Committee, Professional Practice Committee

    and Examination and Qualification Committee. He chairs the Sub-Committee on Certificate

    of Completion and Compliance. He had served in the Letter of Release Working Group andScale of Fee Committee.

    In ACEM, he had served in the Education, Professional Practice, Business Practice,

    Insurance, ICT and Finance & Administration Committees and was involved in the

    development of the Professional Competency Examination modules for the perusal of BEM.

    He was involved in the SIRIM Working Group to help draft MS 1525:2001 edition. He

    chairs the Dry Fire Technical Committee in SIRIM and had completed his assignment as the

    Lightning Protection Working Group Chairman for the new Lightning Protection System

    Standards for Malaysia.

    He was the Chairman of the CIDBs Strategic Trust Working Group on Technology,

    Knowledge and Research & Development to provide inputs for the 2004 CIDB Construction

    Industry Master Plan.

    He is currently serving in the Green Building Index Accreditation Panel (GBIAP) and a

    steering committee member in SEDA on energy efficiency.
