How to Protect Myself
• Don’t give out private information– Passwords– PINs– Name– Address– Phone number– School name– Family or friend names
• This information can be used by bullies and other harmful people on the internet
How to Protect Myself
• Don’t exchange pictures, video, and comments – they can be shared with others without permission or notification
• IM conversations are not private – they can be printed, copied, forwarded, etc.
• Don’t send a message when you are angry – you may be the bully
What if I’m being bullied?
• Tell a trusted adult• Don’t put up with it – there are laws
against bullying• Don’t open, read, or respond to
messages by cyber bullies• Don’t erase the messages – keep
them as proof to show evidence against the bully
• Block IM and email from cyber bullies
