Cyberspace Rules for Mrs. Johnson’s

Kindergarten ClassThese are the rules we will use to learn, play, and have fun on the

internet.

Internet SafetyPlay Smart, Stay Safe, Have Fun!

Do not reveal personal information to anyone over the internet

Don’t send pictures of yourself or your family to anyone.

Only visit sites approved by your teacher.

Don’t use the internet without adult supervision.

Stop right away if you see or read anything on the internet that upsets you and tell your teacher right away!

Don’t respond to messages from unknown users

Reporting Suspicious Contacts or Inappropriate

Material

• Don’t respond to messages from contacts you don’t know.

• Report suspicious contacts to your teacher right away!

• Don’t share inappropriate material with your classmates/teammates.

• Note the website address and report it to your teacher immediately.

Meek Elementary School Nettiquette

Use appropriate/polite language while online. Don’t be rude or offensive.

Avoid activities that disturb and disrupt other users on the system.

Be ethical. Breaking the law is bad nettiquette.

Follow the same standards that you follow in your classroom.

What that means is that, as the author of the work, you alone have the right to do any of the following or to let others do any of the following:

• make copies of your work;• distribute copies of your work; • perform your work publicly (such as for plays, film, dances or music);• display your work publicly (such as for artwork, or stills from audiovisual works, or

any material used on the Internet or television); and• Make modifications, adaptations or other new uses of a work, or translating the

work to another media.

In general, it is illegal for anyone to do any of the things listed above with a work created by you without your permission, but there are some exceptions and limitations to your rights as a copyright holder.”

The Inkster Public School Network is a way of electronically

communicating with others and accessing information. It is a privilege.

As a student in the Inkster School District, I accept the following basic technology rules when using the network:

• I will be safe on The Network. I will never give out personal information about myself, like my home address

and telephone number.• I will use appropriate language on The Network. If it is

language that I cannot use with my teachers or parents

(such as swearing and threatening other people), I will not use it on The Network.

• I will always treat people on-line with respect. I will not use The Network to insult or threaten other users. I assume responsibility for the content of messages I send on The Network.

• I will respect the privacy of other users and will not make any attempts to gain access into the private mailboxes of those users. I will not allow other users access to my mailbox and will keep my password private.

• I understand that The Network is to be used for educational use. I understand that my messages can be read by the System Administrator or Director of Technology.

• I understand that my computer at home is on loan and I will treat it with respect and return it to the school when

• requested or when I leave the school. I will not download any applications (games) or programs at school from the Internet and The Network unless I

am told to by a teacher or by school administration. At home I must get permission from my parent/guardian. Forms for this are available at the library.

• I will not add any software to the school’s computers.• I will protect myself and others by checking my disks

that I use at school and home for viruses.• I understand that the software provided to me for

home use is protected under copyright law. I agree not to copy

this software unlawfully and/or distribute any materials provided for our use. I will model and encourage ethical

use of the software among my friends, family members, and the community.

• I understand that failure to follow the rules of The Network and the Internet as explained here will result in the loss of my privileges using The Network and the Internet. I will accept the punishment determined by my teacher and/or by the school administration. I hereby pledge to use The Network with respect, to have fun and to allow my fellow students to have fun as well.
