CYCLONE• “Kyklocin”-Greek word which means to circle
or whirl.• An area of low pressure containing rising air
with winds spiraling into the center.• Hurricane(huraken)– occurs in West indies, Atlantic Oceans, and Indian
Ocean• Typhoon(tufanarabic)– Occurs in the tropical countries like the Philippines
• TROPICAL STORM–Has wind speed of 63 kph to 118
kph
• TYPHOON–Has wind speed 119 kph and higher
I heard from a weather forecast that four cyclones are coming to my island. Help me overcome these cyclones and keep me alive by using the right shield for a storm with a specific Public Storm Warning Signal issued by PAGASA.
Hello! I’m John the handsome
stick.
I have different shields and I don’t know what to use. Each shield can defend me from a specific range of wind speed. The right shield to be used is determined by the PSWS. Mismatched shield cannot help me.
The first one is coming…
PSWS # 1
20kph-50kph
40kph-70kph0kph-20kph
30kph-60kph
Which shield shall
I use?
PSWS #2
60kph-70kph
60kph-120kph60kph-90kph
60kph-100kph
The second cyclone.
Which shield shall I use?
1PSWS # 3
100kph-120kph
100kph-185kph 100kph-170kph
100kph-150kph
It’s stronger this
time.Which shield shall I
use?
PSWS # 4
185kph-200kph
>185kph=185kph
>185kph
The final wave.
Which shield shall I use?
Great! PSWS # 1 :Tropical cyclone winds of
30 kph to 60 kph are expected within the next
36 hours.
NEXT
Haha! PSWS # 2 :Tropical cyclone winds of
60 kph to 100 kph are expected within the next
24 hours.
NEXT
Awesome! PSWS # 3 :Tropical cyclone winds of 100 kph to 185 kph are
expected within the next 18 hours.
NEXT
Great! PSWS # 4 :Tropical cyclone winds of greater than 185kph are expected within the next 12 hours.

Ahhh! It’s not working! Try another one before I throw up…
Help! It’s not
working! Let me live. Try
another one…
Oh! It’s not working! Hurry! Try another one before the strong winds blow me…
Ahhh! It’s not working!
Allow me to live another
day. Try another one…
WOOOH! I’M ALIVE! Y0U DID A GREAT JOB!!!
Thank you for helping me!!!
You have already determined the different PSWS
depending on the wind speed of the cyclone.
There have been so much damage
to my island. What were the other forms of natural
disasters that were caused by these
cyclones?
A storm surge is an offshore rise of water associated with a low pressure weather system, typically tropical cyclones. Storm surges are caused primarily by high winds pushing on the ocean’s surface. The wind causes the water to pile up higher than the ordinary sea level.
