The WAV concept, and its actual structure, are both culturally and architecturally

significant from an historic standpoint. The building design addresses the needs of

light and function for artists, and the construction incorporates the most

relevant ‘green’ principals that are a priority in our environmentally conscious society.

The building represents the cultural and construction mind-set of the 21st century, and will easily qualify as a local landmark in

the future.

I am honored to welcome you to the WAV. WAV is a wholly-new kind of community, an arts eco-village. Powered by the sun, built from recycled and sustainable materials, and designed to use a fraction of the water consumed in conventional buildings. WAV is the greenest community ever built in Ventura, and the first sus-tainable arts community in the world.

And yet, the WAV project is not only an ecologically conscious building set up to supprt the needs of its artists but also an ongoing development of community and relationships. PLACE believes that by empowering people to create their own com-munities, we can dramatically improve the lives of the people that live there. Thousands of people have participated in this project so far, and the WAV community that stands before you represents their collective dreams.

Most of the state-of-the-art technology, the affordability, and the sustainability you’ll never see. What you will see are people liv-ing, working, creating, and interrelating. And the effect of all that exuberant collaboration is something to see. In fact, it can be transformational. Be prepared to be inspired.
