Introduction
Thanks for downloading the original Drum Teacher Toolbox!
This was originally created in 2008, and later revised in 2012. The focus inthis resource is on simple grooves and rhythms for the snare drum, kickdrum and Hi hat; exploring quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes, and theirrespective rests.
Many of the examples contained are perfect for young students to performat their school assemblies and end of term concerts, or as additional lessonmaterial when a student is struggling in a particular area.
With a bit of creativity, the material can be customised for (or by) studentswho are a bit more advanced:
The rhythm pages and duets can be played randomly around the drums tointroduce solo concepts or basic fills; some pieces can be joined together orrepeated to increase the duration; dynamics can be added for developingexpression or foot patterns can be written underneath to practice moredifficult coordination.
I hope this saves you as much lesson planning time as it does me!
Be sure to check the Drumhappy website regularly for updates.
