With decades of experience in delivering marine solutions andservices to national procurement agencies, shipbuilders andsystems integrators – Stirling Dynamics has the knowledge, skills, and capability to help solve our customer’s most complexunderwater problems. From early concept, to first of class and batch development; Stirlinghas built an enviable reputation in submarine autopilots withinplatform management systems (PMS). Our advanced steering, diving, and hover solutions are active across a diverse range ofplatforms from diesel-electric patrol to the nuclear-powered fleetsubmarines for the Royal Navy. Our advanced modeling and simulation capability allows us toevolve our understanding of naval architecture into synthetic vesseland environment models that underpin our safety assured softwarecontrol solutions. Once deployed, Stirling Dynamics provides a fullrange of support services, including system commissioning, at-seatrials support and post-trial performance tuning. Innovation drives our solutions; Stirling Dynamics is activelycollaborating with our partners in exploring the future marineenvironment to offer further augmentation of existing systems andsystems of greater autonomy.

Naval Architecture
Our submarine naval architecture expertise is highly sought afterwith regard to hydrodynamic, hydrostatic, floatation, and stabilityanalysis. We can assist in the pre-design analysis andperformance assessment of underwater bodies, through to thedevelopment of control systems, operator advice, and training.

Legacy System Evolution
We are adept at assessing platform performance of legacy systems tooffer replacement solutions during mid-life upgrades or as part oftechnology insertion and obsolescence programmes. Stirling offers on-platform data capture of key dynamic characteristics,shore-based data analysis and synthetic replication of the legacysystem. This permits the establishment of a performance baselineprior to Stirling Dynamics offering a system evolution solution.
We support our customers in maintaining and enhancing ourproducts; offering our analytical services at any stage of theequipment life and supporting the operators in getting the bestperformance from our (and others) equipment. Our synthetic dynamic simulators of the plant and environment areused in several reference platforms and training systems – bringing areal-time response to a real-time command. In addition, our trainingsolutions can simulate supporting electrical, mechanical, hydraulicand communication protocols.
Changing threats and the shift from augmentation to autonomypresents both opportunity and challenge to existing solutions. Stirlingis at the forefront of this change; actively working on solutions toreduce operator load, increase autonomy and enhance dynamicperformance. Our work on slow speed control, seamless mode transition (sailing, diving, steering, hovering), signature reduction and full authoritysystems enhances not only our work but also meets our customer’sneeds.
The stability, control and safety of the Astute class submarine duringsteering, diving and hover operations has been Stirling's responsibilitysince first of class and continues to this day. In delivering EN61508compliant systems, Stirling has demonstrated its capability to offerhigh-integrity and safe systems to the marine market.
