OVERVIEWROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Education Council (CEC):responsible for voting on zone lines.

Community Superintendent: responsible for collecting public feedback and presenting there-zoning proposal to the CEC.

The Office of Portfolio Planning: works with theCommunity Superintendent and the CEC todevelop the re-zoning proposal.

oals :Alleviating over-enrollment and/or supporting enrollment by equalizing zone sizes.Provide all elementary school students with a neighborhood zone school.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

• Pending approval from the CEC, any proposedchanges take effect for September 2011 enrollment.

• All students (K-5) currently enrolled in anyschool may remain in their school untilgraduation.

• Sibling enrollment policies remains the same.

• This proposal assumes stable growth based onhistorical enrollment trends.

URRENT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ZONES (NORTHERN DISTRICT)

• Students in the northern part of thedistrict along Ocean Avenue, andFlatbush Avenue to Rogers Avenue donot have a neighborhood zone school.(Dotted)

• Students on Brooklyn Avenue and E35 th street (between Foster/Farragut)also do not have a neighborhood zoneschool. (Dotted)

• PS 139 is overenrolled (123%). PS245 is located nearby, is under-enrolle(62%), and does not have a zone. (Tan
